I am looking for a good mac repair place where the technician can speak english and actually knows a thing or two about macs from personal experience without having to look everything up in his employee manual.

I tried the mac seller place in front of Tesco on the ring road in Chaweng but they want 1000 THB just to begin to look at it and they barely speak English at all. When that happens, I fear a.) not only will they not fix it correctly but b.) they'll break it worse and c.) they'll actually expect to be paid for wasting their time breaking my computer worse.

I hope I'm not being too unreasonable in hoping to avoid a, b and c above.

I read an old thread about an English guy named Boyd at http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/554342-mac-computer-repair-on-samui-wanted/ . Is he still around?

Does anyone have any other recommendations?

These people fix Macs all the time, so even though they may not speak much English, it doesn't mean they won't know what they're doing.

There's a guy near makro, try him. If looking at makro, o your right, about 200 meters, there will be a Mac sign outside.

I know quite a bit about computers and I took many steps and did many things in an attempt to try to fix it myself, and I think that if I can't explain all of these things to the person fixing it, they'll only make matters worse. I've had it happen just a few years ago where I had problem A, I took it in an explained to them all about problem A, they pretended to understand, and then they called me a few days later explaining how they didn't do a damned thing with problem A, somehow managed to erase my OS and all my data, and scratch up an otherwise totally new looking laptop, and then they had the balls to ask me for money for <deleted> up my computer 100% worse than it already was. no thanks. from that point onwards, i'll only go to the most trusted person and trust begins with a conversation where i have confidence that they know what they're doing and fully understand the problem.
