Lone robber escaped with 360,000 baht from Thanachat bank

BANGKOK: -- A lone robber held up a commercial bank in Min Buri and escaped with 360,000 baht in cash Friday afternoon.

Quoting officials of the Thanachat Bank’s Nawamin 9 hospital branch on Siharajburanukit road, Min Buri police said that the lone robber, wearing black jacket and glasses and covering his mouth with black cloth, walked into the bank and handed over a note to a teller with the other hand holding a pistol.

In panic, the bank official handed over a wad of cash totaling 360,000 baht to the robber who eventually escaped in a motorcycle.

A police unit was rushed to the bank after being alerted of the holdup. They scoured the routes suspected to be used by the robber but only found a black jacket abandoned in Soi Siharajburanukit which was believed to belong to the robber.

A bystander asked this Thai why he robbed banks? The Thai robber responded, "that's where the money is."

It looks like someone learned from the previous day's police exercise on a simulated bank robbery where the thief escapes with the money.

Maybe TAT should promote ROBBERY TOURISM.

that saying is from another bank robber in the usa. . Nothing to do with Thais.

but because they have zero forensic skills and the CCTV cameras are too much trouble, then they can offer a reward for a scapegoat, or just give up if they can't get a confession....

I was also witness to a bank robbery today.

Thirty <deleted> quid for going two pence overdrawn in my account......................coffee1.gif

seems like robbing a bank in thailand is a piece of cake. Lucky dude doesn't even need to split the loot. BTW what happens to the customers whose money was in the bank?

the security guard in front was asleep?

Not all banks have security guards.

He wasn't so lucky, he was caught.

Nothing happens to the bank's customers, if the money is in the bank it's the bank's money that was stolen and there are contingency plans in place by the banks known as insurance.

first i heard about a bank robbery here. i wonder how the police dealt with it?

with smiles of course...biggrin.png

You'll find that they investigated and arrested the offender.
