A foreigner especially Turkish living in a remote area of Bangkok is probably up to no good. I'm saying this as a turk because 99% of Turkish come to Bangkok for sex, they would want to be close to bars not in the middle of nowhere. I just checked the location his residence is on google maps, the lad is obviously up to no good, he probably didnt come here for a soapie.

I am hoping he was caught by some other countries intelligence assistance to add some credibility to this case as we all know the BIB cannot be trusted.

I hope there is more bomb making equipment than what they found as those items can be found in most home with the exception of the ball bearings (those are quite damning if they are there).

And just because this guy might be Turkish or other nationality, does not exclude the involvement of Thai's, especially a Thai pay master (good way to deflect attention).

I thought early on when the RTP announced thst the suspect may have already fled the country that there may have been a plan being hatched...put any suspects at ease, so they do hang arounf and don't dispose of any incriminating materials. It's a ploy as old as policing itself.

I understand your sensitivity to this matter and indeed he may be carrying a fake passport, though I don't think we know about that yet, either way.

In any case, if this guy is guilty, I think it's important that people should not unfairly demonize all people in Thailand who have any connection to Turkish nationality or ethnicity. I'm sure any such people who might be involved in this kind of terrorism in Thailand are a tiny minority.

Realistically though, I reckon that people with a Turkish connection here will be subject to some additional scrutiny and I certainly hope that isn't abused to hurt innocent people.

Thailand is FAR WAY from the "PC" universe and Thai culture has zero issues with PROFILING people based on nationality/ethnicity. That's the way it is here ... and foreigners are never going to to change the culture here in that regard.

That's true, and if that theory follows, those possible sponsors also saw to it that he stayed in what appears to be a relatively remote Muslim area, as on TV it showed a number of women residents wearing hijabs.

Whilst I hope this arrest brings justice and closure, especially to the relatives of the victims, i noticed the pictures of the bomb making equipment are missing one component.

When the bomb went off I asked myself the question 'Who benefits from this?'.

This is such a simple question that usually leads one to finding the perpetrators.

In this case, the ruling military junta benefit from the bomb blast because they now have the justification they need to stay in power indefinitely.

However, this doesn't mean that they planted the bomb.

In the case of this Turkish guy, how does he or his posse benefit from the bomb blast? Did the blast benefit his cause in some way? How is Thailand connected to internal conflicts in Turkey, or the ISIS agenda?

These are very difficult questions to answer. Very few of the educated Thai middle class trust the police, but does that mean that the police are not doing a good job on this case?

I'm very cautious about taking this latest arrest at face value. When firm, believable motives have been established, then I'll probably feel more secure about the situation.

The similarities are miles apart.... I just hope they got the real culprit. It would be a waste of justice to see it slip, simply because they want to get someone they fabricate a case. Bomb making equipment. Could one be a bit more specific. Pictures please..... ball bearings ok good find... or simply coincidence? Whats the motive..... lost a love suite in courts? I would really like to get to the bottom of this without the frills of explaination for dumb people.
