Chain link fencing Chiang Mai area

Featured Replies

Hello,

Wondering if anyone can recommend or know of a chain link fence supplier, somewhere in the greater Chiang Mai area. Looking for 5 feet high. I've been told roofing material suppliers often sell chain link, but this I don't know. Also, price per meter would be great to know.

Thanks,

bottled

All Thai building supplies outlets stock the mesh and concrete posts. Local outlets, not HomePro/Global etc, same place the locals go for cement, bricks and general. There's one on the 121 road behind Ban Wangtan just before Samoeng Intersection.

There's a specialist shop that sells all sizes on the super highway, you come down the 1001 and hit the highway, approx half way between that junction and Centrale Festival just before Home mart (be careful not to miss it as it is not a big shop).

Global House now does stock chain link fencing in several different heights, mesh sizes and wire gauges. They keep it around the back in the heavy materials area - you can't miss it, it's just opposite the huge rack of blue PVC water pipes as you walk in. A 10m roll of 1.5 inch reasonably heavy duty fencing is 622 baht including VAT. Concrete posts are available almost anywhere but GH does sell the spring type fittings that work well with the wire mesh and are easy to use. They are in a rack just next to the PVC pipes.

That's not the easiest kind of stretcher for chain link, you need something like this:

I made a simple version that is tensioned with a ratchet tie-down and it works very well. Chain link fencing is not common here other than welded to steel frames and you will be hard put to find any worker who understands the importance of stretching it properly or if you're trying to keep dogs in or out, burying sufficient in the ground in the right way. A small crowd of neighbors gathered to watch this Mad Farang putting the home made stretcher into action for the first time. Guess it was the same with the invention of the wheel.....

Global house seems the cheapest I have found for the rolls, but in 10m runs only even on special order.

I have spoken to perhaps 10 different people offering to install, and not one had what I would call a solid understanding of how to properly install.. Of course a couple made offers of insane pie in the sky numbers but even in the few who seems to price the work fairly, it seemed very much just offering to have a go rather than understand tensioning, and the rigidity of chainlink under strain.

Its not chainlink / diamondlink but this crowd seem to know what they are doing..

Was just in GH and they have 1m, 1.2m, 1.5m and 1.8m high chainlink in either 2inch or 1.5inch mesh sizes. All the rolls are 10m and they keep what looks like 20-25 of each in stock. Someone was just buying the last of the 1.8m stock when I arrived but it's available to order with a 15 day lead time. 10m of 1.8m with 1.5 inch mesh costs 1469 baht (barcode 0712121810).

I put in kilometres of chain link back home. Important is to stretch the wires (at the bottom, middle and top) using wire tensioners. You can adequately stretch a fence to the next post every three metres, post after post. You do need diagonal reinforcementspost-130198-0-58607000-1441190636_thumb. every 15 metres or so whatever way you do it.

great info guys, thanks a bunch! I'll be hitting the shops this weekend, to see about the price. Got a quote in the village for 10 meters of 1.8 meter 1690. . . . which is not so good . . . .

I am learning that with chain-link it is all about the tension, similar to my ex-wife . . . . . .
