If you download Win 10 can you leave the downloaded file and install at a later date – or do you have to install immediately ?

If you download it, you get an ISO file for burning to DVD, or you can select to make a bootable USB. Either way, you can install at your leisure. You have about 1 year for the 'free' upgrade.

Just be careful that if you are doing a clean install of W10 with the downloaded file that you have gone through the upgrade procedure on the computer in question, otherwise the computer/system/MS will be asking for a W10 key.

Strange thing happened to my desktop PC yesterday.

While working I got suddenly a big blue splash message mid-screen saying that my Windows 10 was now ready to download and there was an Upgrade Now clickable box. I made the Win10 reservation some time ago so I was not surprised but I was not ready to do the download at that time so I deleted the message.. But later when I went to small bottom right Win10 window it told me that I still had to wait.

Have I been the target of a malware attack ? I have True as ISP.

And at the time I reserved I gave my email address for notification ...
