Thailand to start utilizing online tourism supervising tool

BANGKOK, 2 September 2015 (NNT) – Thai authorities will soon require excursion companies to send outlines of their tourism packages to better provide regulations for tour groups, the Tourist Police says.

Deputy Commander of the Tourist Police Division Pol Col Archayon Kraithong has revealed that Thailand needs to start collecting information on visiting tourists to provide thorough security protection for all of them.

He said that the Tourist Police Division has coordinated with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports to enforce a new regulation which requires tour companies to send information such as an outline of their group tour activities in the country for international tourists in advance through the Job Order Online system.

The system will be another mechanism for the police to regulate tourism activities to ensure they are within the limitations of the law, while the Tourist Police is set to install additional 315 CCTV cameras in five major tourism provinces to reaffirm tourists’ confidence.

The Tourist Police Deputy Commander went on to say that the police were ready and confident in their abilities to provide security in all respects for foreign visitors.

Thailand is ranked among the top tourism destinations by the World Tourism Organization and the World Travel and Tourism Council due to the strengths in location, culture, hospitality, and diverse attractions.

It is expected that the number of tourists visiting Thailand will exceptionally grow in wake of the realization of the ASEAN Community in the near future.

"the Tourist Police is set to install additional 315 CCTV cameras in five major tourism provinces to reaffirm tourists confidence"

Wouldn't they do more to reaffirm confidence if they actually fixed the large percentage of broken cameras?

And how long before the 315 new ones fail?

315? Big wow.

Well, it will be wow for the vendor of those cameras (who happens to be related to the Purchasing Officer), who will sell them at ten times the normal price, and for the installation team, (who happen to be a relative of the Contracts Officer) who will charge a per hour rate rather than a per camera rate, and the job will take 5 years, and the maintenance contract with the maintenance contractor (who happens to be a relative of the Chief), who charge an undisclosed sum on a need-to-know basis (for security reasons, of course).

When you see what police is doing to innocent tourists on Sukhumvit,it's very hard to believe that this close supervision is to protect them.

Spot on !! It's not only Bangkok, it's happening all over... I really don't see this move being to sharp up and to implement better security for Tourist, as they don't really give a damn about your wellbeing neither having a enjoyable time in their country. Come, leave your money and f****ck off home...

They could give a damn about tourist confidence. More than half these cameras will most probably be fake units like with the ones they installed in Bkk a few years ago.

Here's a crazy idea: How about getting 315 of the cops out walking around at those places? Cameras great for recording crime, but rather poor stopping them or preventing them. And considering such large percentage don't work and of such low quality that it is luck if viewer can even id sex of person..... (no ladyboy jokes, please!)

It actually sounds like they are more interested in monitoring tourist activity, than providing security for them. Tourist safety has never been high on the list of priorities of any Thai administration, nor the RCA (the revenue collection agency known as the police). Regulate tourism activities? What, prevent the occasional orgy? Come on. Lets get real. Either you are serious, or you are not serious, about tourist safety. These circus jesters, who pose as tourism officials, are definitely not serious about safety.
