How to return IE home page to Google (or other) and get rid of Speedbit

Featured Replies

I recently tried to install Speedbit downloader in IE10 to help me expedite downloads. Unfortunately, this gave Speedbit capture of the homepage. I have since deleted it, edited the Windows regisrtry and spent hours trying myriad suggestions for reversal of the process. So, I give up. I have somehow previously succeeded with the exact same file. No luck now, however. Anyone? Thanks - Ping

Doesn't IE have a reset option in the menu now?

To change your homepage in Internet Explorer, I'll talk you through the easiest way i normally use when setting up:

1. Open Internet explorer

2. Type into the URL box: www.google.com and wait until the page loads.

3. Click on Tools/Internet Options. (If you cannot see your menu bar, click on the left Alt. key on your keyboard)

4. On the General tab under Homepage click Use Current, Apply and OK.

Google should now be your homepage. Probably easier ways, but the above works.

To be sure there is nothing left of Speedbit, on the menu bar click Tools and Manage Add-ins and make sure there is nothing there.

My sincere appreciation folks. After all my problems and attempts at solutions, Chicog saved the day. Great job!

I had a similar problem. I tried to disable plugins, and delete the program. However, this is some malicious software because they could not be otherwise than through an antivirus program.
