Police chief denies saying deportation of Uighurs causes deadly blast

BANGKOK, 16 September 2015 (NNT)- The Royal Thai Police Chief has claimed he has never said the Ratchaprasong blast was triggered by Thailand’s deportation of Uighurs to China.

According to Police Chief Police General Somyos Poompanmuang, he said said the blast was in fact caused by Thailand’s serious effort in eradicating human trafficking. The decision to deport Uyghurs, who illegally entered Thailand, was in line with the international law.

Meanwhile, an investigation team led by Police General Chaktip Chaijinda has gone to Malaysia to seek more information related to the blasts at the Ratchaprasong intersection and the Sathorn pier.

The 3 men arrested in Malaysia are believed to be connected with the explosions. The Thai police, however, did not immediately go to Malaysia to bring them back as Malaysian authorities were also investigating whether the three were part of the ring that smuggled Uighurs into the country.

Quote from the Article linked below:

Thai authorities confirmed Thursday it had forcibly repatriated nearly 100 Uyghurs to China...........

In a statement, the WUC had asserted that it has “direct information over the phone from a source on the ground in Thailand who indicated that at least 25 men were also killed trying to resist boarding the plane.”

IF these allegations are true, it would appear that their is sufficient link between deportation and the bombing - Revenge.

Prayut did not "stumble upon" the Uighur people smuggling ring. Rather, Thai state officials, including the military, were profiting handsomely from the people trafficking trade including the Uighur trade until the Chinese gave Prayut the order to pull the plug on it. Thailand has long been a hub for people trafficking and the police and military get paid at every stage.

Something was lost in translation... maybe it was his wits.

More his guts to dare state the truth and contradict the boss.

Based on his previous track record you consider him to be a truthful and brave leader who always pursues the truth whatever the consequences then Eric?

Just like he did when he personally got involved in KT and completely exonerated some alleged suspects.

What will the do without this bastion of justice and exemplary police work when he retires?

Actually based on what he categorically explicit comment to the press. The perpetrators, he said, were linked to the Uighur militants, radical members of an aggrieved ethnic in Southern China, who struck to avenge Thailand's forced repatriation of Uighur to China. The next day, he changed his mind after Prayuth came out and denied categorically it was linked to the deportation. I speculate that he doesn't want to anger China.whistling.gif

By the way, I have much disdain for the people in uniform and the bastion of justice and good work will never come when you are compromised with corruption. The police and the military are corrupted people shielded by the power and pretty much untouchable.

I can believe it, how do the Army and Police chiefs get to be so incredibly rich, it's certainly not by being well paid for the job.
