Help with my iPhone 5s

Featured Replies

I brought my unlocked iPhone 5s model NE344LL/A from the US to Thailand and I am afraid it may be the wrong phone. Can someone in the know direct me to the right thread as I am sure this has been talked about or point me in the right direction. I bought the phone at full retail unlocked with the idea to travel in Europe etc... but ended up in Thailand. I vaguely remember that it may not be the right model for Asia.. but cannot remember why or why not. gsm??? sorry I'm not too technically inclined.

At any rate, how can I find out if I can use it - or get the most out of it? If it is the wrong phone is there a place I can get a decent exchange on it? thanks

hasn't anyone had problems/solutions with their iPhones? I can use the wifi... but when I got a sim card from true the phone signal didn't work near as well as a cheaper phone I had. Maybe one of the other carriers will be better for the phone? or perhaps I have to just get a new phone in Thailand. if so how would I sell this one? ( I'm not really overflowing with funding) thanks

I use a 5s from the US in Thailand and no issues. Just put in the SIM card and it should work the same as in the US.

I did put in a sim but it didnt work right. Apparently there are quite a few US models some that use different platforms/networks ie cdma and gsm but I dont know what mine is. Thanks maybe I could try a different network. I saw a thread explaining this but cannot find it.

I found a different model number that was on the outside back panel. Model A1533. The earlier model number was found in the general specs section in phone. I think the A1533 number is more helpful.

Are you sure it is NE344 because that model number is not recognised.

If it is ME344LL/A then it is a CDMA model, originally sold by Verizon.

To be sure go to www.everymac.com.

Find the 11 or 12 digit serial number and look it up from there.

I don't think you can get a CDMA phone to work with a GSM Sim here.

The phone says A1533 on the outside cover but there are 4-5 iphones with different specs with that model number. The NE344LL/A is the model number listed in general/about/model inside the phones software.
