BUY MOTOR BIKE WITH TOURIST VISA 2015?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have read some older posts stating that a tourist cannot buy a motor bike in Thailand.

I will be staying in Chaing Mai for three months, returning to Australia for two months; then back

Chaing Mai again for a further three months

I think it's a good idea to buy rather than rent.

can I BUY MOTOR BIKE WITH TOURIST VISA ? ( I will have a condo lease, and a International driving licence)

Sorry if i did not find the answer in a recent post.

Cheers Phil

The first bike I bought in Thailand was on a tourist visa,

in Chiang Mai.

yes you can absolutely, but you will need a residence certificate to buy it in your name

Thanks for response,

I guess what I should have asked is; CAN I REGISTER THE BIKE IN MY NAME?

and the answer is no! I suppose I could register the bike in a Thai friends name.

Then use the bike when I revisit.

Ok thanks

Buy same same as register on your name. You can also get a Thai DL. Very handy to have.

No, the answer is yes.

See post 2.

Putting it in a Thai name?

How could that turn out poorly! ;-)

Bought 3 bikes and registered on my name, all on tourist visas. Most recent one this year. Straight forward process.
