Police Colonel Supapon, the Regional Commander of Tourist Police was joined by Police Lieutenant Colonel Wootishart, the Chief of Pattaya’s Tourist Police Division and a senior officer from Pattaya Police Station at this press conference at the Tourist Police Station to announce the arrest of a gang consisting of three men and one woman who were thought to be responsible for a spate of attacks on foreigners on Pattaya Beach Road.

Earlier this week we reported on two attacks involving foreigners in one night where an Israeli and a German tourist were victims of an assault and theft. On the same night we understand that a Russian couple were also attacked and robbed. The Tourist Police began an investigation into the three cases which were clearly related based on descriptions of the attackers from the victims.

On Wednesday they located and arrested the suspected gang members who they thought had committed the three attacks. The gang members were positively identified by the victims and a confession from each arrestee was forthcoming. Items such as metal poles used in the attacks and stolen items including necklaces, mobile phones and cash were all on show at the press conference.

The Russian victims were also in attendance and explained to the press how happy they were that their items of value have been returned and the suspected attackers have been arrested.

These gangs terrify me even, if alone, they look like little boys. My guess is they have nothing better (ie: work/school/girls) to do so they gang up on foreigners and fund their laziness.

At one of my next trips to Pattaya I will take my" little boy" with me.

He likes to walk the beaches and in case one of these cowards tries to attack me

they will end up like the coconut on the pic :o

Looks like the new initiative from the Mayor to tackle these criminals in this area has started to pay off. Lets hope that the pressure applied by the Police will deter other would be thugs. :o
