Crime Vietnamese Brothel Madam Charged with Torture and Murder
Picture courtesy of VN Express In a disturbing case that has captured national attention, Vietnamese authorities have charged Nguyen Thi Thuy, 42, with murder and procuring prostitution after an employee was allegedly tortured to death. The case unfolded when police dismantled a prostitution network operated by Thuy and her husband, Ta Dinh Phuc, in Hai Phong. The grim details emerged as police investigations unraveled the fate of Ngoc, 30, who was employed as a housekeeper at Thuy’s brothel in Tan Binh Ward, Hai Duong City. Ngoc was subjected to continuous physical abuse by her employer, enduring severe injuries over time. The situation reached a tragic climax on 16 July 2024, when Thuy accused Ngoc of stealing VND10 million (approximately 14,000 Thai Baht) and VND1.5 million from another worker, My. In a brutal act of vengeance, Thuy forced Ngoc to strip and subjected her to relentless torture with an iron pipe. Further acts of cruelty included slapping, pouring toilet cleaner over her body, and even mutilating part of her finger. Ngoc succumbed to her injuries the following evening. In an effort to conceal the crime, Thuy coerced another employee, Linh, along with two minors, to assist in disposing of the body. On the night of 17 July, Thuy drove nearly 500 kilometres across several Vietnamese regions, finally dumping Ngoc’s body in a remote roadside pit in Xin Man District, Ha Giang. The case took a decisive turn when police, spurred by information from employees who had escaped the brothel, located the disposal site. Within 72 hours, the victim’s identity was confirmed, underscoring the investigative efficiency of the local authorities. This appalling incident has not only led to Thuy facing severe charges but has also implicated others involved. Her husband, Ta Dinh Phuc, has been charged with procuring prostitution, while H Ko Nie, known as My, is accused of harbouring a criminal. Furthermore, Ngo Xuan Canh faces charges related to paying for sex with a minor. This tragic case has sparked discussions about the exploitation within the sex industry and the urgent need for protective measures for vulnerable individuals employed in such environments. The legal proceedings are expected to shine a light on these dark practices and possibly drive reforms to prevent similar atrocities in the future. Adapted by ASEAN Now from VN Express 2025-07-07 -

Crime Ex-Asda Manager Imprisoned Over Drug Smuggling Plot from Thailand
Twenty months compared to twenty years is OK. And she'll be out in half of that; so after 'time served' she'll only do about 6 or 7 months. However, if she'd got away with the 31 Keys is worth about £60K in bulk. So some might consider it well worth the risk. -
