This happened to me a few years back as i posted here before. The investigation into it was a scam in its self and the police involved still have there jobs. I also refused and my staff and i demanded to be arrested and taken to the Police Station. They tried to arrange a corrupt station to take us but the law requires them to take is to the local station that we already know. The police doing this are often from outside the area and so don't want to go to the Police station. I strongly suggest if this happens to you that you immediately demand to go to the station. The warrant was fake they used to enter my office and that's why they would not give me a copy of it.

Advice I was given was to install cameras and after doing that have never seen any police ever again. Further the local police now know me and know I don't play games and am not interested in any donations and have no need to do such.

The fact is most in the police dont get involved in such things as they all fear Youtube and have seen recently many police get busted and lost everything.

My suggestions are as follows:

1: Police without uniform not welcome unless they have an appointment. Dont open the door!

2: Make cameras very viable at home and Office as it works to deter criminals.

3: Dont pay anything. Let the charge you and try arrest you. Wrongful arrest here in Thailand is something that gets attention. Bail money in cash is going to be less then the money the police want. (Average THB 140k)

4: Pull out your phone and film them you have the legal right to do so as per statements by the chief of Police. Post to Youtube and have it posted on your Facebook.

5: if they arrest you demand to go to the police station. Demand the full names of all police involved and get your lawyer to go direct to the local Police station before you arrive to demand the law is followed and you come direct to your local station only.

6: Charges often dropped day of the first court hearing. They stretch it out to see if you will pay but they dont want the hearing.

7: Backup your computer as if they take it they will break it. I lost data and a server once taken illegally and just went t buy a new one next day and restore from cloud backups.

Follow the law and if the police want to arrest you agree fully and say you will meet the at the Police station. Dont talk to the police at all and speak only to your lawyer, you cant talk your way out of it so dont try. Dont sign anything without your lawyer.

Now you see why the local Police say some westerns know too much but i have been here running legal businesses for over 14 years and done nothing wrong. But as a successful businessman I have been the target of sharks more then once.

Reminds me, back around ten years ago there was a drug trafficking gang led by a Border Police officer, seems to me he was only a Captain, but oddly the gang was operating in Bangkok. Anybody remember that case and whatever happened to it? My memory is that there were at least a dozen cops and a huge amount of drugs involved.

Just did company training on Uk Corruption law today. On the basis of the UK law Thai police would be deemed corrupt by paying themselves a bonus for solving a crime. The money corrupts the process; if there was no money involved then justice would follow its natural course.

BANGKOK — Two police officers accused of kidnapping a Japanese businessman and demanding 3 million baht to free him have been sacked but remain on the loose, police confirmed today.

Police Lt. Col. Pongthawat Kongsuea and Police Lt. Cpt. Kritpakorn Niamsorn were expelled from the Metropolitan Police Bureau yesterday, metro police commander Sriwarah Rangsipramnakul said, after the men failed to appear when summoned by their superiors.

“They didn’t come to work. They didn’t show up to acknowledge their charges, so we fired them, in accordance with disciplinary regulations,” said Police Gen. Sriwarah. “Now that arrest warrants have been issued on them, police can arrest them anywhere they are found.”

Both officers are accused of detaining 36-year-old Kikuchi Masato in his condominium in Bangkok’s Sathorn area on 5 Sept. and ordering him to pay 3 million baht in exchange for his freedom.

without some sort of financial gain or favour, the natural course in Thailand is that the police would do nothing unless

a) a tip-off leads them directly to the perpetrator of a crime

Well I'm glad they got sacked for kiddnapping and extortion, I wonder what the GF's got for setting this up, but just goes to show that assisting people smuggling and taking bribes for assisting murdering bomb makers and the covering up of CCTV footage-- aiding and abbetting (non terrorist Uighurs) only deserves posting to inactive duty, now that's the best police force in the world!!!

Officers extorting Japanese businessman face dismissals



BANGKOK: -- Pol Lt Gen Sriwara Rangsiphram-manakul, the commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, confirmed that Pol Lt Col Pongthawat Kongsua, a general staff officer attached to the 6th Division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau and Pol Sgt Maj Wirasak Phaosu of the Phra Khanong police station have been dismissed from the positions as of September 21.

They were dismissed for dereliction of duty and misconduct but as of the present their whereabouts are unknown as they have not reported to the Metropolitan Police Bureau to answer for allegations of abducting and extorting more than 1 million baht from a Japanese businessman, he said.

The Bangkok Criminal Court had earlier issued warrants for the arrest of 3 police officers in the case.

They are Pol Lt Col Pongthawat Kongsua, Pol Sgt Maj Wirasak Phaosu, and Pol Lt Kritpakorn Niemsorn, the deputy inspector of the Crime Suppression Division.

Japanese businessman, Kigushi Masato, 36, owner of an entertainment venue in Silom area, had filed a complaint with the Yannawa police station that he was threatened by 3 policemen who accused his Thai wife of having engaged in drug.

He was later escorted to a safehouse along with his Thai wife.

The three officers then demanded three million baht to drop the case or they would charge the couple with narcotics possession.

However the businessman could offer only one million baht and they agreed and freed them.

He later filed complaint with Yannawa police.
