China’s golden week adds thousands tourists to Thailand

Truck pulls down power poles in Trat
THE SUNDAY NATION

TRAT: -- A TRAILER TRUCK accidentally got entangled with electrical wires and toppled 10 power poles near the Klong Yai intersection in Trat's Muang district early yesterday morning.

Power poles fell onto several houses and injured one resident who was asleep.

The accident, which occurred at about 4.30am, caused a blackout in the area. The damage bill was being assessed yesterday.

The truck was transporting cargo to Trat's Klong Yai district when it took a left turn at the intersection and pulled down the electrical wires and poles.

Afghan government claims terrorists were hiding in hospital hit by air strike

Energy ministry to spend THB690 bn in energy projects next year

BANGKOK, 3 October 2015 (NNT) - The Ministry of Energy has expressed readiness to invest in important energy projects worth 690 billion baht in the fiscal year 2016.

Minister of Energy Gen.Anantaporn Kanchanarat said the projects included the 10-billion-baht construction of 500-kilovolt power grids in many areas across the country and the construction of natural gas pipelines. The ministry also planned to construct LPG and LNG warehouses with the objective to enhance Thailand’s energy security. As for the Petroleum and Petroleum Income Tax Acts, Gen.Anantaporn said the ministry would finish revising the two legislations before submitting them to the Cabinet for consideration in October this year.

The ministry would push for five major energy plans, already approved by the Cabinet, in 2016, such as natural gas and oil plans, Gen.Anantaporn added.

Guatemalan mudslide death toll reaches 69, hundreds missing

Tropical storm Mujigae is now a typhoon

BANGKOK: -- Tropical storm Mujigae has developed into a typhoon at about 4 am on Sunday as it is approaching the eastern side of Hainan island of China with about 140 km/hour strong wind, said Mr Wanchai Sak-udomchai, director-general of Meteorological Department on Sunday.
