TNSC says 2015 export deficit could reach 6%

BANGKOK, 4 October 2015 (NNT)-Thai National Shipper’s Council Vice-President Wallop Wittanakorn has expressed concern over the Thai export sector. He said August’s exports stood at a deficit of 6.69% due to the global economic slowdown.

The council expects September’s export deficit to stand at 8.6% and October’s at about 9.92%. If the deficit exceeds the forecast in October then there is a possibility that 2015’s export deficit could reach almost 6%.

The Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking is to meet on October 6th. The group is expected to discuss economic issues, including exports, with the possibility of adjusting this year's export target.
