Real leather belts in bkk?

Featured Replies

Anyone know where to buy original leather belts?

Everywhere I've seen has cheap chappy fake ones, even if it says "original"

Bought one in Europe over ten years ago and still like new, the ones in Thailand last a month or two and they crack or the holes stretch ( I normally keep a lot of stuff in my pockets when I'm travelling around the city and this wrecks the local belts but not the 10yr old Euro one )

Anyone know where to get a good one and what price I should expect ?

I second MBK....bought one 6 months ago..the woman cut it to length after waist measuring and it shows no signs of deterioration at all wearing every day. I though it was a lot at 750 baht but has been worth it.

Can anyone be more specific? I've bought a pair el-cheap shoes from Findig but wouldn't trust their belts. Also, My brother bought a few belts from a shop on the same floor - got a year out of them before they disintegrated...

And in this heat, I'm not sure I'd blame the belt itself as I also have a high quality Euro belt that was destroyed after a few days of being subjected to the sweat caused from me tromping around in tropical temperatures.

PLATINUM MALL OR CHATUCHAK MARKET

THESE TWO PLACES ALSO GOT BUT YOU NEED TO LOOK FOR IT. IT MIGHT BE MIXING AREA WITH FAKE ONE.

Robinson's department stores carry Jacob brand genuine leather belts.

Clasps are also more durable than the typical riveted clasp.

Key to making a belt last in hot weather is taking the belt off the pants after each use and letting the belt dry out.

Real leather shouldn't disintegrate in such a time period, army boots and gear etc don't disintegrate

Combination of sweat from tropical heat and stretching will break down most materials or cause them to rot so real tough leather is important, the cheap lookalike ones are nice but they won't survive long

750thb sounds reasonable, if anyone can recommend a shop that definitely only sell the real ones I'd be happy with that price

Muji in Central Chidlom, japanese quality for 800-1000 baht.

I'm not sure the brand but a few years ago I bought a "Genuine Leather" belt from Robinson's at Fashion Island paid over 1000 baht and it was a fake. Caveat Emptor even at Robinson!

There is a few places in Chatuchak where you can get real handmade leather belts

You can easily tell the real thing when you see it

Amarin have a stall doing good quality leather belts cut to size and with a buckle of your choice.

I should get a discount then because I still can reuse the metal buckles from all the failed fake belts lol

Buckles are in perfect condition...the metal was up to scratch...
