Surin warns farmers on substandard fertilizer sales

SURIN, 11 October 2015 (NNT) – The Surin Provincial Agriculture Office has warned farmers in the province against the use of fraudulent substandard fertilizers which causes low-quality produces.

The Surin Provincial Agriculture Official Damrongrit Lodkum unveiled in a report on an ongoing scam that merchants are selling substandard chemical fertilizers during the high-demand season.

These scams have been conducted in various forms such as direct sales with farmers by cars, through agents in villages, or through advertisement via the village loudspeaker.

The merchants have been reported to even offer discounts or credits to farmers interested in purchasing these substandard fertilizers from them.

The Surin Agriculture Official has stated that many samples from products sold by these merchants have been proven to be substandard. The office affirms that this sale behavior is punishable by law, which forbids the sale of fertilizers without permit or off-location selling.

Farmers and the general public in Surin are therefore advised to be cautious for this fraudulent activity, and to report immediately to the related officials or agencies if they are approached by these merchants.

same every year, the real loss is some of that shipped from China is not even close to spec. dust from the street cleaners may be more productive to plant health. very little quality control in asia in the ag sector. This is due to lax or no monitoring as the authorties (there are many) are paid and have office space, but seem more concerned with second jobs / pay checks.

Its a shame that there is so little real support for farmers in some of the areas where it is most needed.

Agree,

Thats why its important to have resources avalible in country that can be certified.

Thats what disappoints me so much about the potash mine out of undon thani that hasn't been able to get off the ground for 14 years.

Would be reasonable quality and save the farmers millions a year.

So I take it then that the "Thai Rak Thai" (Thais love Thais) is no longer applicable? Must for sure involve some aliens as Thais would never cheat their own flock giggle.gif

What is causing the holdup on the Udorn potash mine? Maybe the red shirts don't like it.

Pretty sure its the people who live where its to be located.

And the farmers cheated again ,when it's through the village speakers the farmers are scared to complain because they know back handlers have been placed ,who do they complain to without comeback

Interesting. I have just entered into a partnership with someone who happens to be the owner of a small fertilizer factory and I was in Chiang Mai yesterday trying to learn a little bit on how the business works with a view to helping him promote his products to farang farmers. I am about to start testing it out myself, so I'll let you guys know how it goes.

There are about 20 different cocktails, so if any of you guys are close to Chiang Mai, Kampaeng Phet or Chantaburi and are looking to try new products, then drop me a PM and I will provide you with more info.

When people want to protect their environment and their lives, the color is GREEN.

The holdup of the mine has been the lack of a comprehensive environmental impact report on the mitigation of proposed mining operations and related industries it will spawn. People are looking for reassurances and not getting them.

We got ripped. Once. I always told the missus, do NOT buy anything from a door to door travelling salesman(woman). No matter what it is they are selling, 25k of fertilizer in that case. Now she gets it and understands.

Is the Chiang Mai fertilizer an organic based one?

Yes... Some of them are organic. I will try to find out more and start a new thread so as not to hijack this one.

What is organic fertilizer? Surely the bags of NPK most people use is organic as it is made from oil I think.

Organic fertilizer is made from animal manure, human excretia and vegetable matter.

Depending of course on what has been fed to the animal, human and vegetable as to whether its organic, organicsmile.png

I would say the ones being sold in Surin are bags of compost without any certification.

NPK is a mineral fertilizer the only difference i can tell is organic conditions the soil but mineral then again can do the same.

Yeah a lot of people are over the top with this so called organic fertilizer. NPK is not some dirty word. It is also a very efficient way of introducing macro nutrients to the soil. So called "organic" stuff is way overpriced for what is does and about 10% as effective. It is a luxury item poor farmers cannot afford.
