Samsung Note 5: Freezes while on Stand-by. Cannot turn on

Featured Replies

My Missus and I have the same phone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. While it is a great phone, it has a problem, we both experience quite often: We cannot turn it on (from stand-by).

Here is what happens: When the phone is on stand-by and we push the "On" button on the right-side edge, nothing happens. Repeated pushing does not help, the phone simply refuses to come alive.

After some pushing (and swearing) the lock screen appears but cannot be swiped to open the phone. Then some erratic screen swapping and more Offs and on and the finally the phone come to life.

It happens to both our phones and we bought both phones in a Samsung store in Bangkok. (64 MB capacity, AIS provider)

Has anyone else had the same experience and maybe even found a cure?

I know that on a Sony you should hold down the on and volume button at the same time, but not sure about Samsung.

Thx Beano, but isn't that the factory reset? And i will lose al data?

I am not (yet) annoyed enough to do that.

No it is not a factory reset on a Sony, it is just a small reset.

You 'should' be able to hold down the Power Button for about 20-30 seconds (usually wait until the phone vibrates) and it should restart.

My i-Mobile like to lock up (maybe happens when too many apps are running in the background, exhausting available memory).

This is the way I clear it. Better than me throwing it against a wall (even though the battery is removable and I can always pull it to get a restart).
