EU officials tells governments to keep promises on migration

BRUSSELS: -- A top European Commission official has said that EU countries need to keep the promises they’ve made to help refugees and migrants.

Governments agreed at a summit three weeks ago to redistribute 160,000 people across the bloc.

But very few have explained how many people they will accept and when.

“It’s up to the member states now to talk to each other in a frank way tomorrow at the European Council (EU summit), and to do as they promised on the 23rd of September,” said Frans Timmermans, the first vice-president of the European Commission.

“You’ve talked the talk; it’s time you walk the walk,” he added.

Officials also say that some 1000 staff are needed to EU-funded asylum centres in Italy and Greece.

They include translators, guards and legal experts.

Last week, the first relocation took place when 19 Eritreans were flown to Sweden from Italy.

Wonder how much these useless pricks are paid?

The whole EU parliament and countless civil servants (there's an oxymoron) is one big whole that sucks money away and delivers <deleted> like this.

Will they be asking Merkel and her government stand up to their promise of all are welcome in Germany?

A quick google indicates between Euro19k and 23k / month and pretty sure there will be or "perks" as well including VIP passes to the Brussels red light district ;)

Europe is No place for these illegal migrants , especially those posing as Refugees , they will have no intention of returning to their country , neither will they assimilate in Europe . A number of EU member states have not pledged to take a quota of the migrants , which they have every right to do .

Most of the migrants want to go to Germany or one of the other more prosperous countries , where they believe social services to be generous . The EU has done nothing to protect Europe or halt this unwanted invasion of lesser humanity , but still looks to member states to accommodate these people .

Volunteers are not coming forward to police and staff the initial assessment centres in Greece and Italy that are overwhelmed . This devastating crisis has sapped the unity and solidarity from member states and could be the beginning of the end for the EU .

Let us hope so, started as the common market with honourable intentions and purpose and turned into a wannabe fascist style dictatatorship intent on stealing sovereign power away from its members.

The end cannot come soon enough.

If another reason is needed why the UK needs to get out of the EU this article is a good reason.....the lunatics have taken over the asylum

I want(ed) to like the EU but am mindful of the words of Mikhail Gorbachev years ago: "Why are you creating the same system we have just dismantled?"
