Oscar Pistorius to be released on Tuesday

Oscar Pistorius will be released on parole next week

PRETORIA: -- South Africa’s department of correctional services said that he would be placed under house arrest from Tuesday (October 20).

The Olympic and Paralympic track star is currently behind bars in the capital Pretoria where he is serving a five-year sentence for culpable homicide.

He was jailed after he fired four shots through a locked toilet door killing his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013.

Pistorius was expected to have been released on parole last month, after serving ten months, but that was blocked after the judge said there was no legal basis for his release.

Under South African law, parole may be considered after serving one-sixth of a term, but as Pistorius had not, there was no legal basis for his release in August.

Pistorius still faces a Supreme Court appeal in November, when prosecuters will ask judges to overturn the initial trial verdict, the equivalent of manslaughter, and convict him of murder.

Note to self, don't worry too much of being found guilty of culpable murder in South Africa should I ever intend to shoot another person in cold blood because i'll only get 5 years in jail and out in five month to live a free man to resume life as usual while my victim is dead cold in the ground....

so so sad, what a beautiful looking girl, gone too soon.....

he knew what he was doing, and has a history of violence with previous relationships..

shocking that he will be out on Tuesday to go back to his normal life...

no justice whatsoever..

Oscar, no more lucrative endorsement deals for you, no more adoring public. You will fade into obscurity, and even if remembered it will only be for your heinous crime.

Well dont say no justice just yet he is being released pending the outcome of the proecutions appeal over the sentence....if the judgement goes the way of the prosecution he could be going back to jail for 15 years
