My girlfriend will be applying for a 6 month tourist visa to Australia next month as we have had 2// 3 month visas before without any hassles or interviews, I am wondering does anyone know how much it costs for her medical examanation she has to have for a 6 month stay??

I will also be applying for citizen by descent for our baby which was born 8 spetember, I have form 113 and all necessary documents for him, The form says 3 to 5 working days to process? Does anyone know if that is the case?

Also i have to apply for his passport does anyone know how long that takes to do? I know in Australia you can request for a quick passport? Being that u tell them u are flying before the prescribed date the passport will be ready? Does anyone know if that is the case in Thailand to do?

There is not a requirement for a health check for a tourist visa unless the applicant is over 70yo or if the applicant intends to study in Oz for more than 4 weeks.

Usually the embassy are pretty much spot on with their estimates...but allow at least a couple of days extra to be safe, Remember too that they quote working days, so allow for weekends and public holidays.

Medical checks for tourist visas are at the discretion of the Embassy.

My g/f was granted a six month tourist visa on the proviso that she pass a medical examination at the nominated Thailand hospital. I can assure you that she is nowhere near 70 years of age, and she wasn't coming out to study. :o

This was a few years ago and from memory the cost of her medical was around 2,000 baht.

She was not asked to undergo a medical when granted her first three month tourist visa.

Do you think that having medical examination from hospital before my girlfriend gave birth will be suffice ? I mean just hand it in with all other documents?

My girl has land with document to prove she owns that also.

So my reasons are genuine for 6 month stay as i want to b with our baby for 6 months while i am stil working as work commitments denies me many months to stay with my girlfriend in thailand..

Cheers .. tinytot

I believe that there are only certain places or practitioners that are authorised to carry out any medical examinations and only these ones are to be used....the embassy can supply this list to you.

I believe also that the exam would have to be current and as your gf was pregnant at that time then a new one would be needed.

Tinytot, the Embassy usually nominate the various hospitals from which they will accept a medical report.

The Embassy also nominate the type of medical tests they want carried out, therefore the tests that your g/f had whilst pregnant may not contain the information that they are seeking.

As you are only applying for a tourist visa, the Embassy may not require your g/f to undergo a medical examination.

I can't see any harm in attaching the medical report that you already have to the application. If the Embassy want further tests, they will soon let you know.
