I've lost one, and only key to my moto. Solution?

Featured Replies

I've lost the only key I have to my motorcycle. How do I resolve this?

I bought it second hand. It's a Honda. I think I have the proper papers to prove ownership, but I'm unsure to be honest.

Thanks!

hammer screwdriver.......or buy new ignition or see locksmith

Local Honda dealer can resolve. But first check your local motorcycle repair shop, they likely know how to get a replacement lock, or a locksmith.

Lesson learned, make a copy and keep in your offside pocket. Learned that with my car lots and lots of years ago.

Mac

You should have a Green book as proof of ownership.

Any local motorcycle shop should be able to fit a new barrel lock.

Gf did the same thing ......lock guy came to the house ......easy.

You "think" you have the right papers. Is it your bike?

I loved I think I have the proper papers to prove ownership, but I'm unsure to be honest. tongue.png

Yes

Been there done this and there is a key man at TESCO LOTOS ON NUT BKK. He is downstairs small shop and he can do your bike there in car park... He will change lock I think

I paid 700 baht 2 years ago with a Thai cop I know took me to him... He knows what his doing and you can cut a extra key 100 baht

Cheers

I presume you mean scooter rather than motorbike or you'll have to go to Big Wing and get a new set of keys programmed for your bike's ECU

Pretty much any small locksmith can cut you some more keys even if you have lost all your keys.

I paid 500 baht and then another 60-80 for additional keys. My mates Thai wife paid 300.

Happened to me 2 years ago. Just call a locksmith, no need to go there. He will fiddle around for some 20 minutes and get you a new key. Total cost was 300 Baht. No proof of ownership needed.

As with a car, the smarties will say ''just hot wire''

and forget the key, until the steering lock kicks in.

I like the locksmith approach best. A new lock cylinder leaves you with out a key to the helmet lock/storage compartment, and is MUCH more expensive. A decent locksmith (not too decent) will just do it, no paper trail required...

Did it ever occur to you to try a dealer where new motos like your beater are sold? So many people think everyone on this forum willl be able to solve their problem thereby making it unnecessary for one to think for themselves. I am just amazed.

Of course you can always hotwire but you would probabvly have to ask someone how to to that too....

can you get to the helmet lock , etc

most locks have the key code

on the back and a new key can be cut from the code ,

I've done this a few times and just went to the locksmith who came over and sorted it out every time... very cheap. I now have 3 spares at home but <deleted> knows which drawer I left them in...

Go to your Honda shop would be your best solution

They will have a key for it there

There is a serial number on the barrel that they will be able to match a key to

Take it to any motorcycle repair shop, they have boxes and boxes full of keys, I guarantee they will find one that works,,50 Baht.
