New Years Eve

Featured Replies

My 22 year old nephew and girlfriend are coming to BKK for a couple of days taking in NYE.

Can anyone advise any suggestions on where to go and what area to stay, preferably close to where members recommend him going out.

He is on a bit of a budget, circa GBP 40ish per night for hotel

Thanks

Stament not sure about hotels BUT to me the best place to be for NYE is on the river. There are a lot for fireworks shows and it is pretty cool.

Most hotels have a parties it is just finding one that looks like it suits his style.

I have tried 2 different hotels and both have their pros and both cons.

What does he want to do ?

When we were a lot younger my wife and I used to frequent the clubs in thong Lo and eekamai.

One lucky year we didn't go to santika and ended up down at river city watching fireworks after dinner, which was nice.

The worst place was outside central festival, dangerous - too many people in a restrictive area and no atmosphere to boot.

Fireworks sounds good, a drink and clubbing

On that budget and at their age a room in the Khao San area is probably best....close by the river and plenty of bars and clubs for them to enjoy as well as the sights by day.

I don't recommend staying on Khao San or Rambuttri...rather look on Soi Samsen and the the small Sois off of it...some good bargains and a bit quieter than the mayhem five minutes walk away.

For 40GBP a night i would say his bnest bet is KSR. Better to be there where he can enjoy partying, etc rather than elsewhere where he needs to travel. 40GBP a night won't get you far in most areas of Central BKK.
