Lots of action and entertain me that is what I like in a movie. Its another reason I am a series fan as I know each episode is like a mini movie and I know it will be good. I watch so many movies under the 15 minute rule and toss them. Entertain me in the first 15 minutes or toss it. They are producing so much crap today and calling them movies and want copyright protection how ridiculous junk!! Now the Mona Lisa I can see that having copyright protection its one of a kind yet they keep producing copies of it constantly go figure. The new movies are one of a kind to. Junk!! I find I am going back in time and watching all the good old movies of yesteryear. How great they are. I just watched Citizen Kane and the newer movie RKO something on how Orson Welles arrived at the idea of making Citizen Kane. What a history trip.

Yes , I finally saw it last week. It was a bit close to home and left me with a knot in my stomach. Knowing that it was made in CM & Lampang and living here , you immediately recognize it's all Thai , even with most signs in another language , spoiled it a bit for me. (and you can clearly hear Thai words)

Because it was about american companies taking over the water monopoly , I thought it would be more like Laos , but Laos is quite different from Thailand.

Still , I can see it happen in Thailand or neighbouring countries , look how fierce the Vietnamese were , or the attrocities in Cambodia & Myanmar, Thais are no different. What I found ridiculous , was that they killed all foreigners although it was against the americans. I was cool with them killing the american company people though , but just they escaped....it was ofcourse an american movie.

The kids too were very irritating , if they can't keep quiet or stop whining in life or death situations , just leave them behind , the little pests.

The ferocity of Southeast Asian peoples is cyclical... it comes and goes.

Its most recent large-scale outbreaks were provoked by colonialism - both actual and de facto.

Massive numbers of unwanted foreigners might also instigate it.

I watched it with a Thai , she was shocked and found the movie totally unbelievable. I agreed (it was a movie after all) the aggression and hate was way over the top. Normally in Thailand all coups are internal power struggles and have nothing to do with foreigners. Also most of the coups and even the street protests are relatively bloodless. Even the red shirts who are arguably the ones who killed the most people children included are not all crazy like that. It was like any other movie just that a movie.

If they had said it was ISIS it would have been far more realistic because they do kill people in a way like that (letting them kneel and a car run over them). In Thailand foreigners don't have the kind of power as most companies are in Thai hands (everyone knows the 50% shares rules / forbidden jobs and fields for foreigners). So we don't even have the control over the economy if we wanted too.

So for the people who equate this with Thailand.. nice fantasy and good to scare people.

I think for us living in Thailand , it was too recognizable. For others , it won't be associated with Thailand , could be any of the SEA countries.

It is not because ISIS puts it video's on social media , that their M.O. (and worse) , isn't used by others. They just didn't advertise it , for the world to see and blown up by the western MSM.

American companies are not bound by the 50 % rule ! So yes even here they could take control or monopolize . But I doubt the (chinese)Thai rulers here would allow it.

I have lived here 8 years and don't agree one bit, i don't see this happening in Thailand for multiple reasons. The violence was over the top (as I gave examples that even in the bloody struggle that went on here they never got this bloody).

Also some sectors like water / electricity / telecom there are different rules. (so that scenario could not even happen here)

So absolutely no connection to Thailand and way over the top. (but it was a movie and entertaining) But to think that it would happen on such a scale against foreigners is just unthinkable. Except for those who are now forced out of the country and are thinking of doom scenarios to justify them leaving.

But sure the connection was there because of the shooting location and the language of the bad guys.

When I said :" I think for us living in Thailand , it was too recognizable. " , I meant not the violence and the story , but the decor of the movie was too typical Thai and distracted from the movie.

It's like all those movies with action in Moskou but filmed in Bucharest....for the Romanians or Budapest for the Hungarians, it would be recognizeble and distracting too.
