Cannot help with your query but the information in the link may be of interest to you.

Thanks! yes I did quite a bit of research on this and looked at the Moorfields' too. What I am looking for hough is a recommendation for a specialist so I can discuss my condition and what can be done.

Have you considered this well regarded specialist hospital

I have that too, "macular pucker," but not yet a real problem. I've seen Dr Roy at Rutnin a couple of times, instructed to check back now and then to see if the conditions worsens.

Nice guy, seems quite knowledgeable, great English.

Thanks Sheryl. If you know this specialist, how's his English? And is he the type who gives time to his patients to discuss the details of the condition etc...

I do not know him personally, just recommending based on qualifications and specific clinical interest in you condition.

As he did a fellowship in the USA his English has to be fluent.

All doctors are not the same, at any hospital.

Lots of good feedback on Dr. Roy but of course depends on your problem as doctors have different areas of specialization.

Dr. Roy seems, according Rutnin website, to be specialized in the cornea (Pterygium), the conjunctiva (Pinguecula), the lens (Cataract), the vitreous and the retina ... quite a bit.
If you look at his profile on the Bumrungrad website, it shows that actually the vitreous is his main sub-specialty.

Is this doctor Roy Chumdermpadetsuk good at treating cataract? I am 16 years old and is diagnosed with cataract but in my hometown, Cambodia, it's hard to find a professional ophthalmologist so that's why I am going to go to Bangkok.

Thanks.

@Sheryl Thank you for your reply to my message. I will think about going to consult with him. I had gone to a few eye hospitals like Meng Rutnin eye hospital in Cambodia, and other eye hospitals in Vietnam and all of the ophthalmologists recommended me to do a cataract surgery to remove my cataract and all ophthalmologists I met can't find out the reason why i had cataract because i never had any steroid use, eye injuries, diabetes, and never smoked which could be causes of cataract. In older people cataract surgery is a common and quick operation that is almost always successful. But cataract surgery can be a little more complicated when you’re young because your eyes are more delicate so that's why i need to find a professional ophthalmologist to do the cataract surgery for me.

If you have a cataract and it is affecting your vision to the point where normal activities are a pro lem (fir exampme, can't drive) then ut needs to be removed.

But more search for the cause may be necessary unless it was present since childhood. In which case might be a congenital cataract. With very small congenital cataracts it can take many years before the vision is affected.

@Sheryl Thank you for your advice. I only have cataract in my right eye and my left eye is normal but my vision in my right eye is bad because of the cataract so I do think I need cataract surgery on my right eye.
