Please help! Dual monitor has stopped working

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help.

I'm a relative newcomer to Mac so please be gentle!

Earlier today we had a power cut in the office.

When the power finally came back on, the dual monitor on my Mac wont work.

There is sound coming from the monitor but no picture.

I have tried restarting it and reconnecting the cables but without success.

Any ideas?

Thanks

as it is a mac, you will have no choice but to bring the whole stuff to a licensed apple repair store.

How are they cabled?

With the high-end displays you can 'daisy-chain' your MAC Monitors one after the other via the 'Thunderbolt' port. If so, as suggested, try plugging in only one, then the other, then both (in reverse order).

If you've got one connected via Thunderbolt and the second connected to a USB->HDMI adapter, which one has the issue?

If the other display is connected via the USB Port, try unplugging it, rebooting, and plugging the USB display device back in. The USB display device may have lost its drivers (try reinstalling them) or the physical adapter may have 'blown/died' during the power event.

Also try testing the non-working display with a different computer.
