I need to go Chaeng Watthana next week to get the 30-day extension to my tourist visa. But I already went to Trendy Building this week to apply to renew my GB passport, which was full. I still have the passport, they didn't cut off the corners, but I know I'm not supposed to use it for travel.

Anyone know what to do at Thai Imm? Can I just get the extension on my (old/current) passport and not say anything? Then go back in a few weeks with my new passport and get them to transfer the tourist visa over?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

You can get the extension in your current passport. It is still valid for use within the country after you apply for the new one.

How can you get an extension in a passport that is "Full"?

I think full means there is not an empty page for a visa sticker from an embassy or consulate and/or a VOA for a nearby country.

An extension only needs about half a page or less.

Hey guys, pardon me for my ignorance but where is Trendy Building for renewing GB passports? The reason I ask is because the British Embassy no longer issues new passports so I had to get my new passport a couple of years ago from London via Hong Kong (in the mail) and I understand the future renewals one has to to apply directly to London (don't know why Hong Kong BE was involved). Thanks

Yes, as posts above say, any Thai stamps in the old passport get transferred to the new one.

Go through the steps here and you will find all the info you need. https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports/y You have to make an appointment to do the application.

If you have an extension that can be done again the stamps will be transferred at immigration. A tourist visa or visa exempt entry and the extensions of them can be done on departure from the country by showing both passports.

If the OP is here on a Tourist Visa entry and extension, he would use both passports while in the country and when exiting. They wouldn't transfer anything to the new passport.

Renewals are now submitted, and collected from, VFS Global. They are processed in Liverpool - plenty of threads running on Thai Visa.

Thanks for the info. My current passport doesn't expire until 2023 and of course things might change in the meantime. Nonetheless I didn't know about Trendy Building, so again, thank you.

if it helps i had to do this recently with a UK passport in Vietnam. I got to keep the old passport which although technically no longer useable for international travel meant that i still had ID and could take internal flights.

I also had to pay the full price of a visa ON TOP of the full price of a visa to get the remaining three days of my old visa extended on to my new passport.

Felt like a scam but you can't fight red tape. Main thing is it all got sorted. Bit of stress and annoyance at the time but at the end of the day, you need a passport!
