Transfers between Utapao Airport and Pattaya ?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been to Utapao Airport recently ?

I would like to find out the transfer options between UTP and Pattaya. Not sure if they have minibuses where they charge a flat rate per pax.

And whether it's possible at all to avoid being "slaughtered" by Pattaya taxis when going back from Pattaya to UTP.

The Air Asia to central festival transfer service is no longer available.

Bad news.

Without a transfer U-Tapao is much less attractive.

Seems the mafia has won another fight?

After one of these low cost flights (starting at 590) it looks high tongue.png

For a 40 km trip 800 baht is very high. But since most of us will end up in Pattaya a mini bus to share cost will be much better.

The only real problem with the Pattaya<>Utapao trip is getting from Sukumvit to/from the airport and from Sukumvit to wherever you are going to/from in Pattaya. Getting along Sukumvit is well covered by the many Bahtbuses and minivans and big coaches that run along there constantly at very low cost.

800B for such a short trip with no tolls does seem very high compared to the normal cost of getting to BKK in a taxi (around 1100B).

No way 120 km. It will take an hour on a straight line highway at 120 km/hour.

The journey is 40 minutes.

What "kms" unit is that?

From the center of U-Tapao runway to Pattaya Central rd./Sukhumvit the straight line is 30.19 km (18.76 mi).

Even the most scrupolous mafia driver will not be able to make it look like 120 km.

On the street is makes up about 40 km.

120 km is almost the distance from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi on the road (straight line about 88 km).

parking is available and is B70 a day, payable at the road kiosk when you leave. There is/was no paperwork but your car is obviously recorded (manually) so they know how many days you've parked

How to identify buses along Sukhumvit Rd that go to Utapao Airport?

Sent from my GT-N7105 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

None will take you to the airport proper. Only close to the entrance, unless you charter a Songthaew. Then likely motorcycle taxi from Sukumvit Road to the airport. The white Songthaew or any bus going to Rayong that will stop for you. It's literally just inside the border of Rayong.

"U-Tapao mai?" should do it.

Take a taxi. Yes its 800 baht just budget for it.

Do you budget for scam or rip off?

It should really be 700 Baht for the taxi - but coming back to Pattaya there is a minibus for 250 Baht waiting for every flight.

Just noticed on the AirAsia booking site that the transfer from U-Tapao to Central Festival is offered again (some time ago indeed selectable but not available).

210 Baht added to the normal price.

They also offer a transfer to:

Rayong (Laemtong Shopping Plaza))
