Thai wifes documents when applying for child citizenship by decent - Australia

After reading the official australian Government website's checklist from what i could see it did not require anything other than the mothers details on form 118.

I decided to ring the Australian embessy in BKK anyway just to confirm to which they said the wife must also provide the same copies as myself eg, birth cirtificate, passport, and other forms of ID.

My question is why wouldnt the offical government website state this.

Has anyone gone through this processes and if so could you please tell me what documents my Thai wife/mother of my child needs to submit?

thank you

they will want certified copies of her passport from around the time the child was conceived and born as well as yours to make sure the conception was possible

,bluebook and id card as well.

We didn't have to produce birth certificate of mother.

but we will need copy of birth certificate of mothers for a partner visa.

All certifications can be done at vfsglobal office on application.

I got both my children citizenship[ in October, received certificates 10 days later

My situation is a little different, I adopted my son when he was an adult (21 yrs old) as a single parent, through a permission from the Thai Interior Ministry.

His birth mother is still alive, lives in an isolated Essan area, is illiterate, well into her seventies and is mostly unaware of the bigger world, she does have a Thai ID card, she did readily give permission for the adoption, although the Interior Ministry did not ask about this, I guess because son was already an adult. Son's birth father died when he was quite small.

Does any members have any experience with any similar situation in terms of adopted son / daughter gaining Australian citizenship. If so would you please share some details / advice.

Further, in these circumstances if son did gain Australian citizenship could he pass Australian citizenship to his 3 Thai born children and his Thai wife?

Any advice appreciated.

I need to apply for Aust citizenship by decent for my daughter as well. Does anyone have experience using a local lawyer to complete the application and arrange all the translations etc?

I needed to provide a birth certificate, and because it was issued more than a year after the birth, a letter from the doctor which merely said I was present before during and after the birth. This was a child born from a Papua New Guinean mother, but I wouldn't see why this would be different to any other country.

This went through without a hitch.

the only translations needed were birth certificates(child) and marriage/divorce certificates, any thing that you forget to certify can be done at the vfs office.

They certified a few of mine, process took about 2hours from time of visiting vfs at the trendy building and finishing.

it seems difficult to do yourself, but all the lawyer will do is fill the form out for you,so you are still providing the info.

He has no influence over the result.

Translations of docs and certifications can be done almost anywhere if you look.

Anything you forget to do from the checklist can be done at the vfs office trendy building Bangkok.

The oz embassy doesn't do them any more

We live in hua hin the money we saved from lawyer fees paid for 3nights in Bangkok plus travel costs and entertainment.

I have done this about 2 years ago....very easy, don't use a lawyer(though admittedly I was helped by my cousin who is a JP being here to do the certifying).

We just needed the application form and certified copies(all Thai docs were translated) of: Birth Certificate, My passport, partners passport, partners house book and my birth certificate.

There are plenty of translation places about to do that for a few hundred baht.

It only took a week(i think) to get it.

The bigger challenge was getting her passport after that which I would have thought would be easier once we had the citizenship.

And to answer your questions as to why the website would be different, I am just guessing but I would say they are generic requirements issued by Australia whereas the extra stuff is added on by the consulate in Thailand(or whichever other country).
