Sign Shop

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a good sign shop in CM, preferably one that can make large neon signs for a business?

Thank you...

Neon signs are becoming a rarity, unfortunately. I doubt if Chiang Mai has people still practising this old craftsmanship.

7 or 8 years ago I did track down a guy who made and installed neon signs. His factory was in a townhouse in the Nong Hoi area. Lost the details now. In the end I decided against it, mainly because of cost. The transformer and flashing mechanism cost over 20K baht, uses quite a lot of high voltage electricity is noisy and generates heat. A sign using LEDs has none of these problems. I have seen a number of LED sign shops around town.

Don't know if this shop does neon, but he may can point you in right direction. He has a lot of equipment CNC, LASER, etc and makes some awesome signs. The business's name is K-Shop 081-883-6146

not to cast aspertions on the OPs knowledge but may be by now he has realised that neon was a "tacky" trademark of the 90's.....or was it the 80s?

they moved away from neon (gas) in favour of LED.

I guess the OP is an old git like the rest of us, and still calling coloured fluorescent lights neon. i think LED is the new neon.

if you really want neon....try catch an old travelling fun fair, they will have many.

several places I know on the highway at kamtieng; u turn underneath as if you want to go to tesco; immediately on the left there is a reputable place, and one or two more on the same stretch back towards chang puak.

Yes, I need to catch up to current 'times'. I guess I do mean LED.

Would you mind sharing a Google map where these approx. locations are for these sign shops?

If you go down the road toward the river from the north east corner of the moat…I believe it's the road that the US embassy is on…There is a shop on the left-hand side just before the traffic light that I think does neon signs (real neon). Haven't been in it but have been interested in a neon sign for quite a while. I love the old-school effect.

I have not seen anyone doing neon around the Chinatown traffic circle with all the sign shops ,

I took a neon glass bending class in San Diego years ago :-)

When I was in Taiwan in April I was amazed at all the old style cool signs with movement done with LEDs and a computer to make them flash like an arrow in a line etc

Something like that would really draw attention

I saw where K-Shop has done neon, florescent, and LED. Here are the approximate GPS coordinates 18.779886, 98.993781
