Govt. to announce achievements in 2015 next week

I have been on a sabbatical from these forums for many months due to the fact subjects like this one were infested with boot lickers intent on squabbling in Troll like fashion.

Now, the tone has changed significantly. Refreshing.

I was suspicious of this autocratic buffoon from day one.

There were many before who truly believed this fascist was coming to the rescue on his white horse.

Seems they have all duly slunk back into the woodwork…

thumbsup.gif

P.S. And if some boot licker does plan on responding to me, fuggedaboutit.

I have a new policy: I don't reply anymore.

You are quite right sir. There were an army of foaming out the mouth junta apologists but they are seldom seen these days.

I wonder why whistling.gif

I'll tell you why : forums tend to degenerate down to the lowest common denominator. Intelligent people have learned it is pointless to argue with an idiot and they do something better with their time.

You people should be embarrassed at the dross you post here - but you all seem happy and proud of it. The funny (and a bit sad) part is how you don't even realise it.

If you go back to threads 18 months ago, it is amazing how intelligent and grown up the arguments were. Now it is like some kind of red-shirt school-dodgers mutual support group.

This malaise on the part of TV posters has been brought about by the fact that there is nothing new on the table from 22.5.2014, only suppressed opinions and voices under the threat of incarceration by those with the military might. Admittedly there is no overt violence in the streets, but that's about all. Where are the much lauded reforms and reconciliation. Go on, please tell me, because I'd be interested to find out what I've apparently overlooked in the last 19 months. BTW, being of English origin myself the only time I feel embarrassed is when someone uses an English name to post the comments you do!

Another one of those that doesn't make you proud to be English.

when you have to announce and broadcast a big program to announce your achievements, they are really much of an achievement.

They just continue what was introduced by the previous government.

In the past. Gone. This thread's about Prayuth's achievements. No more "but but Thaksin /PTP / Redshirts" pretty please.

True, the current government should drop all that.

Be fair people, they've achieved some stuff...

  1. 80B lottery tickets. Finally.
  2. Repaved the road around the corner from my house, had been needed for a few years that one!

Struggling now. I'm sure there's more.

edit:

3. Built a park in honour of several previous Kings with no corruption whatsoever.

What?

Just can't wait, any chance of a preview?

You mean you missed all of this year?

NO, there is not any achievement of this Junta, unless you know some ....

English John, you really think your smart .... but you don't realise it, you are are the lowest denominator on the forum, you don't have any idea about what's happening, you should be embarrassed, but no, you keep on posting your BS.

You think your the best ? you think your intelligent < yes, thats what you think you are, but in fact you are the stupid guy you like to refer to.

They can always publish it in one of the many blank spaces in the International New York Times. The Times is giving up on publishing in Thailand by years end. Costs are increasing yeah sure.

People who have the audacity, the arrogance, the pomposity to proclaim themselves as one of "the intelligent people" with their contemptuous manner speaks volumes of their character.

Or lack of it...

What?

You forgot many more: act against noisy disco boats, beach chair renters, booze shops ban around schools and temples, etc.... :)

Good, one minute program. It can't be longer than that, unless of course they are going to list the 'achievements' in the field of human rights abuses, in that case it could go on for hours.

Well for one they decreased the number of heart attacks by allowed a lot of angry foreign posters to write their emotions of their souls.

Although still limited they did tackle corruption, they did have people sacked and/or sacked for that. THe NCPO cleaned up Bangkok of those cowardly grenade lobbers. They did pay farmers for the rice pledged under the previous government. They did come with more sustainable subsidies directly payable to farmers. They restructured the National Budget to allow the repayment of the RPPS losses within seven years. They did negotiate with interested foreign countries to get rail infrastructure to the NorthEast started upto the point there is much delay as they don't want to pay too high a price even if the total projects may be spread over many years and pre-financed by the foreign countries.

They have replenished the Tambon funds to stimulate the local economy. Mind you I do not know how much they also strengthened the accounting and auditing for such funds. There are rumours this has never been set up from the start more than ten years ago.

They have started to dig into a constitution for the future which sees much discussion and participation (especially by foreign experts).

Etc., etc.

A dramatic fail is of course that they didn't force the previous government to publish their 'mission accomplished' document. Somehow Ms. Yingluck c.s. never got around to it, Always to busy I guess.

I hope I won't miss the entire presentation just because I got up from the couch to get me another beer from the fridge.

Don't worry, it will be quoted verbatim, no doubt with extensive spin, during the inevitable discussion on this forum.

Achievements is a very subjective view, some people's achievements are other's non event or

non at all, while the government can boast about achieving this and that for the people, it is

the people that ultimately decide if there was a substance to all those chest beatings....

Indeed a very subjective view , Look what Mr Hitler achieved before and during WW2 ,he certainly gave jobs to many people .

Well, at least Smutcakes was honest and concise, not something of which you could ever seem to be accused of.

Whatever they claim their achievements are, it will be fun to see how much more delusional, self-aggrandizing BS they can come up with.

It has certainly been an extraordinary year with lots of attitude adjustments, approval polls, record tourist numbers, misguided foreign envoys, mysterious deaths in military custody, impotent crackdowns, a new suite of hubs, tourism promotion campaigns that change from week to week depending on the latest news, bombs that were not acts of terrorism, naughty journalists asking too many questions, aviation and human rights downgrades, education reform, reconciliation and happiness.

And let us not forget that Thailand broke several records this year: surpassed Myanmar with the number of military in gov't, record number of libel/defamation, sedition charges as well as charges under a section of the law we are no longer allowed to discuss.

Can't wait for 2016!

If you are able to read the Bangkok Post column today on this very subject, the lady journalist just about sums it up.

Very well written, but think she may be in a spot of bother as a result

Brilliant writing.

I don't think that she will find trouble as multiple news outlets, opinion piece writers and editorials have concluded the same.

I'll tell you why : forums tend to degenerate down to the lowest common denominator. Intelligent people have learned it is pointless to argue with an idiot and they do something better with their time.

Judging by your boorish, ignorant and poorly thought through posts I'm not sure whether you should be making judgements on other peoples intelligence. You of course won't get the reference but others may recognise Caliban raging at his own reflection.

The topic is however the Junta's achievements in office.Even the normally Junta friendly BP was unable to identify any real reforms other than fixing the lottery price at 80 Baht. What a cosmic joke this travesty of a government is.In the name of God just go.

Yes it was an excellent and amusingly sarcastic piece.Yet it illustrates the Junta's dilemma in dealing with criticism - now stuck wobbling between crude repression and resigned tolerance. That's not actually a viable policy in dealing with hostile criticism.

There's no doubt now that a significant portion of the educated urban middle class, once largely supportive, has turned against the Junta.

Achievements include how many innocent people locked up

how many people sent for attitude adjustment

how many people fined or arrested under defamation laws?

how many times pm did not hit a reporter for asking questions?

how many officials not arrested for corruption?

how many officials left the country to seek asylum

so much to be proud of.
