Swedish railway operator suspends services to Denmark over controversial ID checks

STOCKHOLM: -- The state rail operator in Sweden is suspending passenger services to and from Denmark, saying it can’t comply with new rules to carry out identity checks.

Many people commute daily between the two countries, and the rail operator says it would not have enough time to meet the demands of the government, which is trying to stem an influx of migrants.

All public transport operators that bring people into Sweden are now required to check that passengers have a photo ID, otherwise they face fines.

The new rules will be enforced from January the 4th.

This comes as a Member of the European Parliament from Denmark’s ruling party defects to the opposition in protest at another controversial immigration measure.

The government plans to seize valuables from refugees and asylum seekers as they enter the country, to help pay for their stay.

'The government plans to seize valuables from refugees and asylum seekers as they enter the country, to help pay for their stay.' Seems more than reasonable to me.

Why is the picture from north of Sweden ?? Not on the bridge to Denmark ?

Especially since most of the so called immigrants are equipped with the newest IPhone model, and most of their clothing is Adidas, Nike or Under Armour. Many of them are spoiled, lazy and looking for an easy handout.

The countries should have a better screening process. So checking valuables is absolutely acceptable.

We need to help the REAL refugees/immigrants from Syria, and not the FAKE "welfare cowboys".

Sounds like a damn good trade for the refugees and asylum seekers.

Unless Sweden has suddenly developed a land border with Syria, there are no refugees. There are welfare bludgers and those involved with the spread of the caliphate. Both undesirable in every way, but they will help keep the socialists in power which i presume is the reason for this whole mess.
