Where can I buy: contact cleaner, compressed air can, laptop batteries?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

In general, I need a good parts and tools place for someone wanting to repair laptops. I've got a few old ones of my own and have friends in need. I've torn down many back home but lack the tools here.

At the moment I need compressed air to try to clean out a keyboard, electrical contact spray for intermittent USB connectors, and a reliable source for reasonable laptop battery replacements. All I know is Fortune Town and Panthip, and neither seems specialized enough.

Many thanks in advance!

PS: I just thought I should add that I'm not in business in any way. This is just to help out my friends and myself.

Basement of Zeer Rangsit. There is a big electronic shop that sell all the tools you may need.

Battery replacement I believe I have seen a shop selling them in Laksi plaza but need to be confirmed. Zeer Rangsit has also a lot of shop selling second hand computer parts

Thanks! My knowledge of that part of the city is very vague. Is there a convenient way to get there, like an MRT or BTS stop nearby?

That's the problem, it's a bit in the middle of nowhere. It's on Viphavadi after Don Muang, maybe the easiest way is to take a taxi from the airport. Sorry can't help here.

For all tools, meters and components electric and electronic, point your GPS to 13 44 44.97 N 100 29 57.93 E. Wander around the alleys that you can't miss- directly across from the big yellow ancient shopping mall.

It's several blocks in Chinatown that have literally hundreds of shops and kiosks of audio and other electronics, TV repair, audio repairs, custom speakers, etc. You can even have a small motor rewound right on the street- while you watch. It's a 20 minute brisk walk from Hua Lamphong MRT stop. That's how I get there. Heavy on the brisk, or it's 30 minutes.

Keep in mind there are dozens of nooks and crannies, including 2nd and 3rd floor shops so don't limit yourself to what you see on first glance. The place is fascinating. But then, I'm a nerd...of the nerdiest kind. I believe you can get anything electric fixed or rebuilt within that square kilometer. And they sell the tools and parts to DIY guys.

For the compressed air and contact spray try the Amorn shop at Fortune first if you don't want to go far.

For laptop battery replacement I think you will find a better selection at Fortune or Panthip rather than Zeer. A lot of people now order laptop batteries online as it is cheaper and you have a wider range than local shops. There have been topics on TV before discussing laptop battery replacements.

One way to get to Zeer from downtown Bangkok would be skytrain to Morchit and taxi to Zeer. Get out at Bobae Tower (next to Big C) and walk across the footbridge. At Zeer you have a much larger Amorn and also NPE (way down the back) which is full of stuff only someone in to electronics would know what to do with smile.png

Panthip used to have a lot of small repair shops but many have closed down or maybe moved to Palladium IT down the road, but don't waste your time going to Palladium IT unless you have a specific shop to go to.

Chinatown as above seems to be the best place overall but takes a lot of legwork and exploring.
