Restaurants serving brown (wholegrain) rice?

Featured Replies

I usually have brown rice at home but it seems very rare in restaurants, except for the yellow-signed vegetarian ones. Anyone found any 'omnivorous' restaurants serving it?

I'll start the ball rolling (he says optimistically) by mentioning Lemon Tree. At least the branch in the university building just off Nimmanhaemin Rd near the little exercise park usually has the option.

Any more?

The Riverside Bar & Restaurant has brown rice available.

Sala I Tim (Sala Ice Cream) off the Samoeng Road in Mae Rim not only has brown/black rice (incl. black sticky rice) but also grows it themselves.

I wouldn't drive all the way out there specifically for it, but when in the general Mae Sa Valley area then it's a very solid and affordable food option. Nice people too.

Often times omnivore restos serve what they call "kau glong" but really it is a mixture with mostly white small percentage of brown. There sure is some good rice here though, I make my own blend of whole grain jasmin with about 25% black, comes out a nice purple color.

Sri Faa's on Chang Khian has it. a good clean cheap place to eat and plenty of gao grong.

It's on Google maps. Easy to find ,just off Huay Khao past the Outer Ring road.
