Cheapest way to roam in Malaysia - inbound calls

Featured Replies

I am usually based in Phuket and use a DTAC prepaid Happy service for inbound/outbound calls/SMS

Now it looks as if I might be working in KL during the week, and returning to Phuket at the weekend.

My mobile phone is mainly used to receive inbound calls from customers who are in Thailand.

I checked with DTAC on the roaming charge for me to receive inbound calls from Thailand, when I'm roaming on the Malaysian network. It is 28 baht/minute, which would add up to quite a lot in charges per month.

Are there any other solutions which would reduce this cost? I must still provide my customers with a Thai contact telephone number - they cannot connect to me using an application such as Skype - they must be able to call a voice telephone number direct from their basic, non-smart or fixed line telephone.

Perhaps some special DTAC roaming package that I don't know about?

How about a virtual Thai telephone number that I can route to a Malaysian SIM card when I'm in KL, and then route to my DTAC SIM when I'm in Thailand?

Update: This might be just the answer:

It seems that I can get a Thai number and then forward it to my Thai or Malaysian SIM card for a low minute cost, or even forward it to a VOIP app for free...
