Best network for mobile data when travelling around Thailand?

Featured Replies

Hi, I will be going to Thailand next week. Will be spending time around Bangkok, Hua Hin and probably Phuket. I will be needing the internet all the time as my work depends on it. Last time I was in Thailand I was using the AIS Travellers sim and it was working good in most places. And I liked the idea that I could send sms to my home country for only 4baht. But before I left Thailand DTAC was advertising 4G/LTE (apparently the first in Thailand). I was thinking of trying it out.

Has anyone had experience using this network? Which is better DTAC or AIS? Does AIS offer the 4G/LTE now? Thanks.

Everything just changed for AIS and TrueMove as of last month with the 900 and 1800 auctions.

If your phone works with DTAC it may be your best bet. Otherwise, take a look at this Forum Post on 4G:

IPhone 5 or 5s support 4G LTE in Thailand?

Post #9 I put up a legend of the current mobile services operating in Thailand.
Though I'm sure you still find some many rogue towers that haven't been updated yet.
4G in the major metro areas from AIS, DTAC and True.
