thai wife working in australia

we are applying for a partner visa for Australia.

my defacto wife as been busy gathering information on forums.

She seems to believe that she will have to wait or do a course for six months before she can start work after entering Australia.

I would of thought she would be eligible to begin work straight away

Can anyone with experience confirm this.

If granted a partner visa she will be permitted to work. Your de-facto may be thinking of government funded English language course which provides 510 hours of training via AMEP.

Unless your partner has recognised qualifications for Oz, your partner should be wary of many Australian / Thai employers who pay cash in hand below award wages, no superannuation, sick pay or holiday pay for unskilled staff.

There are courses to have overseas qualifications to be cross trained to Australian standards, though she would have to wait two years to be eligible for government funding.
