PHUKET: -- A 50-year-old Chinese man drowned while on a trip to Similan Island yesterday afternoon (Jan 13).

A tour guide from Manta Marine Co called the Similan Marine Rescue Unit for assistance at 12:45pm yesterday when one of the tourists in his group fell unconscious whilst snorkelling.

...when...if ever...is such gross negligence ever going to be admitted....and addressed....

....over 200 Billion USD came into this country from The Chinese alone.....

...not enough to up the standards a bit......???

...disgraceful....

... while snorkeling?

How exactly can you put precautionary measures in place to protect people while snorkeling? All you can do is give them a life vest. The rest is Darwinian.

I'm sorry, but some things people need to take account for themselves.
Question

1. Can you swim?

2. Can you hold your breath?
3. Can you breath underwater?

Someone who is drowning is going to struggle a lot. He didn't just fall unconscious.

another one? Is anyone keeping score?

I bett you madame does.

Chinese are land animals not marine creatures.... They should stay away from water....Fiery cross reef included

Many hyperventilate whilst snorkeling which can lead to oxygen deprivation.

Put that on top of them thinking they know how to swim when they don't, as well as possible cardiac repercussions to both I think the recipe is there for this to consistently happen.

Probably should begin researching a rope and winch system on these people, hook em up, reel them in when it looks like they're in trouble.
