Hello,

I was hoping I could have some advice. I have all the evidence required and read the appropriate appendixes. They say you need a separate application for the spouse, and the spouse dependent child, under 18. So I have created forms for both on the website, saved, not completed for two reasons.

Reason 1, I only have evidence of my sponsorship/financial requirements, in one copy. As they want original copies. So I do not have evidence for the sons application, or will they look at both applications together?

Reason 2, does the son under 18 need a CEFR A1 English language test. Some pages it says it does not, but one government page does not include it in the exemption, then the application for the son asks for level of english, so it has lost me a bit.

Then do I send the applications together, or do they get put in to the system separately, possibly with separate immigration officers.

This has lost me a bit.

On a side note. Any advice on proving my wife is the sole parent of her son, the biological father has not been seen or heard since birth. We are presenting medical insurance receipts and private school receipts as evidence.

When it says separate applications it means they must me made online separately with each applicant submitting their own hard copy, the hard copies of the application and the supporting evidence can be submitted at the Visa Application Centre at the same time, they will be processed together.

Only one set of supporting evidence is required.

She will need to provide evidence that she has sole custody of her child, someone will advise the name of the specific document.

Is the hard copy printed off from the online form when finished, or do I need to download the hard copy pdf myself and fill it in with pen. I realise I need to fill the appendixs in by hand.

Also when I press the button for the online form being complete, do I have a limited time period to hand in the evidence, because her CEFR A1 exam isn't until March.

There is a specific document. The only one I knew of, was one I needed to request from a gov department, to allow her son to leave the country (Chile), but they required flight tickets before they would issue it, which seemed silly, but that's Chile for you. I realise this is a thai forum, but reading the other posts on here, they seem to be well informed answers from my experiences with tourist visas for uk in the past. I got to admit though, forgotten some bits of the process such as what happens when I complete the online form, in reference to hard copies, as it has been years.

She has never had to prove, or fight for custody because the biological father is out the picture from day one, which is the slight problem. He might not even be in the country.

Many thanks for the reply.

After you have completed the online form you will be able to print it.

You will also be taken to a page where you can make an appointment for your wife to submit the paperwork and for her and her child to have their biometrics taken. I understand this can't be more than 28 days ahead; but she she can ask to have the start date of the visas post dated for up to three months.

As mother and child have been living together showing sole responsibility will be a lot easier than if they had been separated. You may find SET7.8 What is sole responsibility?
