Shipping options for relocation in UK

Featured Replies

Hello,

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, this seems to be the best fit from what I could see.

I'll be moving back to the UK in July after living here for 6 years. Over that Time I've collected a fair amount of stuff, a lot of which I don't want to part with if possible. I've been looking into my options for shipping my stuff back and have been talking with 'asian tigers mobility' who have quoted me 103,000 baht plus VAT for a 4.35 cubic meter space. They say this is the the minimum size you can pay for, it doesn't have to be full but the price wont go any lower. This is way more money than I want to spend, and a huge space. I could get everything I need into 2 cubic meters.

Can anyone advise any other options or companies to go through? My thought now if I'll need to sell all but the essentials which I could post back in a few separate boxes.

Thankyou

Adam

I looked into this a few times, Pickford international seemed the best option. Not the cheapest but door to door, and you can trust them. Not sure about the minimum, get some more quotes anyhow, that seems a lot, there is JVK as well

I've just emailed pickford and JVK to see what they come back with.

I'm glad it's not just me that thinks that seems a lot.

Let us know what they come back with

Thankyou, I'll try those as well.

As an update to the stage I'm at; I got a reply from Pickford but for the small amount I want to send they don't seem to offer a shipping option suitable for me. There service did seem good though and they were very helpful over email. And I never got a response from JVK.

I've now decided I just have to sell as much as I can and take post only the bare essentials. I've started selling stuff off, and intend to send the only thing I can't bare to part with, which is my record collection. There's about 150 records there, which I think will cost about 12,000baht by DHL. My Wife will also post a couple of boxes of her stuff, so I expect to pay about 20,000 on postage, which is really expensive but much better than the quotes I'd been given to ship stuff.

I used KPS to ship whole of my house stuff along with kids stuff ( by sea)

I sent the stuff before I left Thailand n everything was packed in hard wodden boxes. I don't remember exactly but was around THB 30K to get it all to UK.

Plus I had to pay local clearance charges to local freight agent here.

You must speak to KPS n dont panic to sell
