Cambodia visa

Featured Replies

Hi. I am an EU country national, working and living in Thailand and interested to take a few days' trip to Siem Reap. However at the dates I am looking at my passport will only be valid for another 5,5 months. Will this be a problem in obtaining the VOA at the airport?

Your passport must have at least six months validity to obtain a visa on arrival or an evisa.

https://www.evisa.gov.kh/

That's what I read as well, hence my question; how strict is this rule? And if I apply for a normal visa at the embassy/consulate will the 6 month passport validity be at the date of application or date of entry?

My understanding that they enforce that requirement and that if you managed to obtain a visa you would probably be denied entry if you didn't have six months validity remaining on your passport.

Whilst the Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok doesn't have a website, another of their consulates has the following advice for those applying for a visa:

Application for a tourist visa requires:

* A completed visa application form

* A Passport with at least 6 months validity

I have to say that I've not personally experienced trying to enter without the required validity on my passport.

Did you think about your reentry to Thailand?

As far as I know the precondition is passport valid longer 6 month.

I have a reentry permit and extensions of stay, so that should be ok. But if I can't get into Cambodia it won't matter anyway. I have family coming over next week and wanted to take them to see Ankor Wat in about two weeks. According to my embassy in Bangkok a new passport takes three weeks to get, so won't be back in time. Plus it would mean I have to fly to Bangkok first thing next week and I don't have the time for that. Ah well, we'll find some touristy stuff to do around here... Thanks everyone for the replies.
