The "flu Shot"

Featured Replies

I am planning to head back home for the Christmas holidays and I am taking my girlfriend with me. I intend to get her to a hospital and get herself vaccinated as this will be her first time in a cold climate, she doesn't even know how snow really looks like and I am very concerned she might catch a flu or something. Does anyone know where we can get this done?

Any hospital should be able to provide. Wife and I had done at Vijthani Hospital several weeks ago. Cost was a little under 700 baht each.

I don't know where you are from, but most cities in the states offer free flu shots. Of course you may not want to wait, but it's an option.

I don't know if human vaccines here are made here or imported from U.S. like pet vaccines, but the ones for my pets have been from the states and a little bit pricey....I say more than I could order them for in the states on a lot of occassions.

By the way, a little off topic, there was a headline on Yahoo news lately that if you get flu shots regularly it MAY help prevent you from getting bird flu IF you should ever come in contact with it.

Where are you from? I'm surprised that you're "going home", and you don't know where to go for medical services. Regardless, in the US many pharmacies have flu shot clinics. Too, the hospital is probably the most expensive place to get a simple innoculation. Why not get a flu shot before you go home?

Well, I'm romanian. As far as I recall, this flu shot is only effective after 1 month from the moment it has been done. Was just looking to know where in Bangkok I could get this done.

Any hospital and most clinics will do it - the price range from 300-400 up to 1500 (incl doctor's fee etc) depending on where you go.

However, the flu vaccine available here is of a different composition (southern strain) than the one used in europe (northern strain) so whether it will be effective against this year's european flu is a different story.
