Anyone found Sorghum for sale in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Sorghum is a kind of grain, a bit like quinoa or rice. Apparently they grow it here (and it's the 5th most grown grain in the world), but I haven't seen it for sale

In Thai they call it KHAO FAHNG ข้าวฟ่าง. According to Wikipedia there are 25 species of plant belonging to this family of grass, some are for animal and some for human consumption.
A search on Google for places to buy it in BKK turned up this 2 year-old Pantip query from someone wishing to purchase some as a treatment for stomach ulcers. Suggestions included the pet stores in Chatchujak market. Another response said they'd bought it in Nawamin Road in a shop opposite Intharak Market. Others confirmed it's available in pet shops selling animal feed.
Another Pantip thread said they'd seen it in Lemon Farm in Nonthaburi and also in Golden Place in Saphansung.
Also someone posted up a tel no for foodgrade sorghum @ 100 Baht/Kg in post 5 here.

Be aware that in Thai we also call millet khao fang (ข้าวฟ่าง). So when looking for sorghum, make sure you not getting millet. Millet is grown and selling in Thailand. Sorghum I am still looking for.

Just came across this post by chance. I found some Bob's Red Mills sorghum flour in Bangkok - it was in some health food shop in Sukhumvit on the odds side... but I can't remember where now. Doh. All I remember is that it seemed like a posh area

But it's probably available in other health food shops anyway - it's a good brand
