East coast southern provinces to see strong waves and winds on 16-19 Feb

SONGKHLA, 15 February 2016 (NNT) – Southern provinces on the east coast are expected to experience high waves and strong winds during 16-19 February 2016 from the influence of new high pressure winds that will cover Thailand, according to the TMD's latest announcement.

The Southern Meteorological Center (East Coast) has released an announcement warning the general public in provinces on the east coast of southern region to be aware of the effect of the moderate high pressure system from China covering Thailand beginning tonight. Southern provinces lying on the east coast will be seeing high waves and strong winds during 16-19 February 2016.

The weather effect will also be influenced by the northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf and the south of Thailand, while the intensity is expected to increase.

Waves as high as 2-3 meters are forecasted in the Gulf of Thailand. Sailors are advised to navigate with extra caution whilst small boats are advised not to sail out to sea. The general public living along the coast are warned of the potential dangers from strong waves.

For more information, please contact the Southern Meteorological Center (East Coast) (phone number 0-7431-1760) or download the Thai Weather smart phone application available both in iOS and Android.
