Vets capture marauding soi dog after years of terrorising Nakhon Ratchasima locals

NAKHON RATCHASIMA:-- A soi dog which is said to have terrorised local farmers and killed livestock for more than three years has been captured by vets.

The dog named ‘Wok’ is believed to be part Siberian Husky and is known to regularly eat chickens and ducks belonging to local farmers, as well behaving aggressively towards people and attack other dogs.

One local farmer reportedly told ThaiRath how he has been unable to sleep properly for more than three years because Wok continually tries to eat the chickens from his farm.

Yesterday, it took local vets almost three hours to capture the dog, despite it being shot with two tranquiliser darts.

After Wok was captured Nipaporn Pongsophon, a local teacher, was concerned for the dog’s well being and said that would be prepared to take care of Wok as she already has 8 dogs, so looking after one more would be no problem.

Local vets said they would vaccinate Wok before trying to find him a new home.

A stray dog like this, with no legitimate source of food, is bound to eat ducks and chickens running loose. I'm glad to see the dog isn't really being blamed!

The blame rests

1. with the people who allowed it, or its parents, to run loose

2. with farmers who let their chickens run free

"Wok". Koreans and Laotians are probably chuckling over the dog's ironic name.

I have dogs, I like dogs but an out of control, aggressive dog killing livestock and terrorizing people should have been dealt with 3 years ago. I cant comprehend why they took so long. And good luck to the person adopting the dog. I'm sure that will end well...

Hat off for the local teacher willing to take him in.

If locals had little more than empty space in their skulls, they could have bought 20 baht plate and put out dog food on daily basis , so Wok would not have to hunt.

Strange that others blame the dog for not proven things and to be aggressive and then it appears that with the right owner he can be nice.

Unbelievably kind locals in Nakhon Ratchasima, in our village once that dog had started killing livestock he would have been offered a nice chicken thigh coated in rat poison and that would have been that.

Will you look at that dog,s eyes ! Being an avid believer in face reading I would say this dog is evil incarnate !! More than a passing similarity to the eyes of my ex smile.png

Oh geez, the end is nigh.

More likely she has 8 dogs already that she does not look after, another will not make any difference. coffee1.gif

Surprised that it has been allowed to get away with attacks for 3 years. In our village any dog that acts like that lasts about a week.

If it was attacking Livestock back in the UK it wouldnt even last that long.

Some dogs will kill domestic animals even when they aren't hungry. It's in their nature. I saw a dog run into a bunch of chickens and kill every one of them so fast I couldn't stop him, and then he just "tried" to walk away. He didn't get far.

IMHO no property owner should have to tolerate a dog coming onto his property at all, much less to kill things. The livestock of people comprise at least some of their livelihood and in some cases, all of it. As others here have said, most dogs like that wouldn't last long regardless of whose "fault" it is. Where I come from, if you want to assure that your old dog dies of natural causes, keep him on your own property.

Cheers.

We have a pack of dogs , around 12 , sometimes more, at the end of a short soi. They are hungry, and in an awful state.what can one do about this problem? ( no cruel remarks please).

Put out food on daily basis.

If can not afford dog biscuits(cheapest is like 500 baht for 20kg) then rice with mince(chicken or pork),

Poor state? i am assuming you mean mange, in this case, can buy biomec or alike, small sausages, put 2 tabs to start with on monthly basis, once condition improves, cut back to 1 tab

Dogs health has a lot to do with food it eats. If you start to provide decent food, instead of rubbish they eat, you will find their condition will start to improve.

Champion is the cheapest brand, as i mentioned 500 baht for 20 kg, not the best but surely better than no food or rubbish

Look at the vacant expression in the eyes of this soi killer....... Hannibal Lecter, and/or Ted Bundy has returned.

Good luck to the female teacher promising to take care of Wok, whatever you do keep him outside, preferably with a mask/muzzle and never let him sit in a Volkswagen.

This dog should be put down, it has proved how dangerous it can be. What is going to be said when it attacks a small child. No the dogs life is not worth the risk. The woman who wants it is an idiot.
