You enter Soi 7 off Chiang Watanna Road next to the CAT complex (and if coming from expressway will probably mean a U-turn in front of that CAT compound (big red letters - if coming from Laksi airport road you turn left directly after CAT) and drive to the end of that and turn right to the right turn to enter the South Entrance. You enter and Immigration will be on the right side of foyer before you enter the open area at center of building.

My directions are always Chiang Watanna Soi Jet and point/turn directions from there.

Getting to Chang Watt is a no boner. MRT to JJ Market and Taxi from there.

Just make sure the driver knows where to go. Most who are willing to go know the route well. About 125 Baht

The problem is getting back. Actually really easy since there are loads of taxis in front of the building.

But they all seem to take a really strange route with the bill being much higher.

Is there a bus going from CHang Watt to JJ Market ?

By far the best way to get back is to take bus no 166 from the bus stop outside the eastern doorway of the immigration building to Victory Monument. Goes on the expressway so reasonably quick and normally free too.

If going then Mo Chit BTS is OK then one of the many Rangsit bound buses to IT Square (immediately after Chaeng Wattana Road / Vibhvadi Rangsit traffic lights - look out for the road sign to highway 304) then a short motorcycle ride. Of course you could also use bus 166 which stops on the opposite side of the Victory Monument to the BTS.

I tend to avoid taxis when they have an open road to exhibit their "driving skills".

Beware often taxis will try to dump you outside building A near the main road, about a km away from building b which is further back.

No, they don't if you tell them you want Soi 7, I've never had that happen. Why would they do that when there's a guarantee of a quick fare away from the place?

Well, it's not very exciting there is it?

I usually take an Uber.

In terms of Thai language directions to a taxi driver...

Bai Soi Jet meaning Go Soi 7 is a start.

And then you can add "Tor Mor," which I believe roughly translates to Immigration.

So something like, "Bai Tor Mor, ChangWattana Soi Jet." Some people also say "Soong Ratchigan," which translates as Government Complex.

But, it's also easy to take a local BMTA bus from the Mochit BTS Station to the corner of ChangWattana Road and Soi 7. From that corner, there's a free local shuttle bus that makes a circular route from there to the building where Immigration is located.

If you take the BTS to Mo Chit (the same BTS stop you'd use for the Chatuchak market), right there where you come down you'll see the moto-taxi fares to CW posted in plain view on the fence. They certainly know where to go, and will drop you off right there at the stairs to the entry doors. (And then there'll be guys right there waiting to take you back to the BTS Station when you're finished for about the same price - also clearly posted.)

Bring up Uber on your smart phone and enter a destination of Chang Wattana 5. Then, when you get in the car tell him to go to Soi 7. Uber doesn't know about Soi 7 and incorrectly transliterates "Chaeng" as "Chang", but that will get you there easy-peasey. I have had taxi drivers who claimed to know the destination, but got lost. You can probably get an Uber at Mo Chit if you want to save a little money and you'll be able to get one back from Building B, although you might have to wait a few minutes.

Simplified way:

BTS to Mor Chit...exit on park side.

Walk a bit in direction of traffic to get away from crowd.

Hail moving taxi with red "Vacant" light

"Tor Mor Chang Wattana Mai?" (Maybe not exactly proper Thai but gets the job done) Should run between 100-120 baht I haven't had a driver yet take me to the wrong building.

Many vans stop right at the base of the BTS stairway. Just ask driver the same thing. B25 The van drops you at complex entrance, take free shuttle bus from there.
