Migrant worker stabbed to death in Ratchaburi

RATCHABURI:-- Police are investigating the murder of a man from Myanmar after his body was found dumped in bushes beside a coconut factory in the Pak Tho district or Ratchaburi.

The man had been stabbed 17 times.

Pol. Maj. Bannasith Chainual from Thung Luang Police Station, confirmed the discovery of the dead man, who was found lying face down and wearing a green t-shirt and jeans. Police also found a wallet nearby which contained a picture thought to be of the deceased.

Pol. Maj. Bannasith told reporters that forensic officers had collected DNA from the scene and sent the body to undergo a formal autopsy.

As part of the investigation into the man’s murder, police confirmed they have spoken to the dead man’s housemate, identified only as Mr Nai, also from Myanmar, who is said to live close to where the man’s body was found.

Mr Nai reportedly told police that his housemate had been missing since February 26 and that he last saw him when him along with another man when they were drinking together that evening.

Mr Nai alleges that he he went to bed early because he was drunk and has not seen his housemate since.

Police are reported to have shown Mr Nai the picture found in the wallet and he confirmed that it was of his housemate.

Police believe that two or more people carried out the murder.

Investigations are ongoing.
