whistling.gif You need to check with the airline.

if you need the walking stick for your support to get on and off the airplane for medical reasons they may approve it.

Otherwise security will probably call it a weapon and not allow it.

But it is up to the airline and the air security people to decide.

Note....I travel in a wheelchair.

Normally the flight attendants will not allow a wheelchair in the plane.....if you need support going to your seat. they will help you and support you

But as I said, it depends on the airline and their policy.

Not a problem for me as I can support myself walking as long as I can hold on to the seats

Not Swampy, but Don Muang, in January. I took a walking stick along and had no problem. Made a point of faking a bit of a limp when coming up to Security, not necessary, just stuck it on the x-ray viewer with my coat and carryon bag and went on through fine.

This was with Nok, DMK to CEI (Chiang Rai)

Local flight, don't know if international.

I use a stick from time to time for an intermittent arthritic issue: never had a problem, in fact sometimes it is something of an advantage as Thais are more kindly disposed to those of early middle-age+ who might have mobility issues ( except at govt level when they couldn't give a toss).

Partly off topic as it about airlines and not walking sticks.

Years ago I used to work in Papua New Guinea and it was quite common to see machetes and spears as carry on baggage on local flights.

They did draw the line at shotguns and pistols though and they went downstairs in the baggage hold or in a locked compartment in the cabin.

I have seen people get on board with crutches. The attendant puts them in the coat locker up front.

What does he do with the crutches?

They are stowed next to the joke books.
