Pest Control

Featured Replies

Having not long moved into a rented house in Chiang Mai we are being subjected to invasion by very small black insects. The house is fairly new but is partially furnished with some old Thai style wood furniture. We suspect these black mites or whatever they are have been lying dormant in the furniture until we came along and installed air conditioning to make them more comfy. Landlord disagrees and is convinced the insects come from the garden or we bought them with us. He is unwilling to pay for pest a control company to fumigate the house. We have tried spraying rooms with aerosol type insecticide and then keep windows and doors shut overnight but the insects still reappear next day. Has anybody else had a similar experience? Or does anyone know of a reliable pest control company in CM where we could get some advice?

If I had this problem in the us and could not resolve it by removal of certain pieces of furniture then I would buy a product we called a "bug bomb" which was a canister of fumigant. You would buy one for each room....leave all the internal doors open (closet doors too) (not the refrigerator though), remove food items not in sealed containers, close all external doors and windows, place a triple layer of newspapers on the floor in the center of each room, place the canister for each room on the newspapers in each room, remove pets and children, activate all the cannisters as quickly as possible and leave and lock the doors....return after the time specified on the product.

If you could narrow the infestation down to a certain piece or pieces of furniture and you do not wish to discard it/them then you could place these in a single room and bomb only this room.

Don't know if this product is available in Thailand though...if it is then follow the directions that come with it and disregard what I have posted.

Thanks for the advice. Please can anyone tell me where I can buy this product?

There are a lot of pest control companies that will spray your house. I have a contract with Chiang Mai Pest Control for 5000/year. They come every month and spray inside and outside. The only negative side is that we have to stay out of the house for a good part of the day.

Chiang Mai Pest Control

10/2 Samlan Rd Soi 1 Muang Chiang Mai

053-278-743 or 053-814-817

There are quite a few companies. THis is only one of them.

Try IKARI 26 Kaoklang Rd Nonghoi Tel 053800572 or 802720. Reliable cheap and you do NOT have to vacate the premises. Oh and it works

Blinky Bill once had an insect problem in his nether regions, which must have jumped on board from the toilet seat, and on advice from his non-medically minded associates gave the region a good spray of Mortein which, although it did sting a lot, got rid of the pesky little bugs. :o
