Allergy Clinic

Featured Replies

Anyone got good suggestions for an Allergy Clinic in BKK, Udon or CM?

Wife's sister convinced she is allergic to dust. Well. , perfectly possible, need to find out!

How much do you think?

Thanks

I realise this q has been asked before..be grateful for up to the minute experience

Laolover88, what are her symptoms please. I'm currently under investigation for 'Bronchial Allergy'.

All major hospitals have allergy clinics and all can do allergy testing. In a private hospital, not cheap.

Personally I would just do some trial and error at home, notice when the symptoms seem to occur and what measures seem to decrease them. If symptoms are limited to (or obviously worsened by) being in a dusty place ----> allergic to dust, no need for expensive allergy tests.

Allergy to dust is often actually allergy to dust mites, BTW. If it bothers her at night there are special pillow covers that can be bought that will help, as even the best of housekeeping cannot totally eliminate dust mites. But of course, keeping the home clean -- including under and behind furniture, places often overlooked - will help.

Just had a full blood test allergy panel done at a government hospital (was charged as a non resident..... Not yet changed to "resident" unfortunately). Cost about 7,500 baht.

The Dr offered the "scratch test" where they scrape irritants into the skin and see which react as he said it is way cheaper. However, I would have had to go off all medication for at least a week prior to testing which I was unable to do.

If she only wants to be tested for dust..... Will be less money obviously.

I was tested at Bumrungrad about a year ago. Allergic to the usual suspects: dust, mildew and others. Solved the problem by spraying the bedroom carpet & bedclothes thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol. This supresses the allergans for 8-10 hours. Cheap fix & don't have to take too many allergy meds.
