Thailand Only: Three year old twins get married, make amazing recovery from illness

Depends really. I've always felt the Ten Commandments (apart from number 1) and many aspects of the sermon on the mount are outstanding ideas for building a just society. The whole god bit is ridiculous but some of the rules for a harmonious society are worthy and still relevant today.

What like? Do not kill? We'd never have thought of that one. Thank god for the bible or we'd all be butchering each other with impunity.

It's called 'common sense'. We have laws that help us adhere to it.

Common sense dictates actions? Ha ha ha, what planet are you from?

I would say more but then I remembered this

38 You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. 39 But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic,[h] let him have your cloak as well. 41 And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42 Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.

I am assuming that this is a "token marriage to crock the bad spirits", and I am also assuming that at some point "the marriage" is nullified perhaps due to non-consummation, then everyone gets on with their lives and "live happily ever after?"blink.png

It was decided to arrange a mock marriage between the two and, according to the father, as soon as this was done everyone recovered as if by magic.

so if they fall ill again, what they gonna do?

Do what most Thai males do, visit a Karaoke Bar. The more Christmas and red lights decorating the establishment, the better. Bonus points if it's in the middle of nowhere or on the highway.

TiT. You can assume nothing.

Is this the Thainess the govt insists the nation should be practicing and the Minister of Tourism / TAT call on tourists to come and experience ?

Models at auto shows are told to cover up but it's ok to put children through a marriage ceremony because of supernatural needs

No. it's not. This was not a marriage ceremony it was a mock ceremony, there is a huge difference that you in your obtuseness choose to ignore.

More stupid Thai Superstition!

If you're suggesting that Thais are the only ones who submit to "stupid superstition" you need to take a close look at where you probably come from. Ever heard of the stupid superstitons called, just for example, Judaism, Christianity or Islam?

'Last year, a couple in Chainat arranged for their four year old twins to be married because they believed that if they didn't, the children would die at the hands of evil spirits.'

This sort of nonsense needs to be ridiculed if the country is ever going to get into the 21 st century. It's not cute, not quaint or charming- it's just stupid, backward and primitive and belongs in the past.

Just like Christianity perhaps in other countries, or is that sort of thing real?

Disturbing, 3 year old siblings marry, I thought this sort of thing was only allowed in Tasmania Australia and New Zealand?

Just as disturbing is, after reading the article that explains what happened, your thinking that they actually got married.

As they believe hanging a red shirt outside the house protects from the pee bob in the village then they just can't get any dumber

Good to see traditions like this still being practiced. Brought down from generation to generation.

Lets hope it does not disappear thus watering down Thai culture.

another sign of the 'developed' nation

Black cats, broken mirrors, walking under ladders, Friday the 13th ?

Same same but different ?

Not to mention all religious activity of any kind.
